Yeah I guess you're right. I'd rather have that done than shorten the barrel.

Muzzle brake is opening up groups

To be honest I'm a little reluctant to send my gun to this guy now so I may just have to accept it and get another smith to do the barrel job. As long as removing that amount of barrel and re crowning won't ruin a sweet gun. Is there any risk in this?

Muzzle brake is opening up groups

Haven't been able to follow up due to lack of internet. Thanks for everyone's help so far. Here are some images in response to some of the replies. Pic of brake. Note how much bigger back hole is. It seems to have had alot of the shape removed due to drilling out to thread barrel in: I...

Muzzle brake is opening up groups

I didn't realise load development needed to be done again. I looked through magnification and projectiles don't appear to be touching. I'm not feeling any significant reduction in recoil either. I've since learned the guys a backyard gunsmith probably self taught. Perhaps I just take the hit and...

Muzzle brake is opening up groups

I have a Rem Sendero 7mm Mag shooting 1/3 MOA. I decided to send it off and have a brake fitted. Since I got it back I've been shooting terribly. I took it off the other day and I was shooting great again. Put it back on and groups opened up to 4MOA. I'll try and load a pick of the spread and...

Ernie are you saying you can shoot large calibre rifles accurately without loading the bipod or holding the foreend by way of hand and/or sling wrap? Without a muzzlebrake too?

Must be an Aussie. You can't understand them even when it's written down ;)

I'm shooting a Rem7mmMag Sendero. What I don't understand is how do you shoot off any of these sticks without being able to do the equivalent of loading the bipod. I would think I'd have terrible muzzle leap. In the picture of Ernie Bishop perhaps he's not shooting with both hands at the back...
