Help designing long range build (30 cal mag)

I finally found some 300 rum ammo so I’ll get to shoot it after the new year. I’m pretty sure it will kick a lot with the sporter weight barrel more than anything else I expect a heavy barrel contour would tame the rifle down and make it more fun.

Help designing long range build (30 cal mag)

to those asking about why I am interested in a 300 prc it is mostly because I think it’s like a bigger longer ranging 6.5 Creedmoor. There seems to be a lot of economy in being able to order a standard spec 300 PRC instead of some special fast twist, custom spec reamer other 30. I think it’s...

Good point on watching the width of the flat. I agree! I didn’t mention before that it looks like it was originally fit to a heavier barrel contour and glass bedded full length to the sporter contour so it looks like it has lots of flat area to work with.

Help designing long range build (30 cal mag)

Hello all! I found a rifle with a cool stock I would like to build from. See photo. It’s walnut thumbhole with a high cheeck rest and even some decent flame type figuring. Nice long length of pull. I love walnut so it fits with my preferences. Currently it is a factory 300 RUM in a mag...

    10X for 7mm mag?

well, I'm in the process of doing the same thing with a 7mm RM in a Rem 700. I just recently bought a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 Mil-Dot for it. I like it so far, and in preliminary testing the adjustments are good and repeatable. I chose it over the Bushnell 3200 10x40 mil-dot, mainly just...

    Mil Ranging Drop Graph

I've been lurking and learning here for a while now, and as I'm finaly getting around to verifying my longer range (beyond 400 yards) drops and windages. I just got my first mil dot scope and thought of a way to include a mil ranging function allong with my rifles drops all on a single sheet...

Low Priced Long Range Scopes by Ian McMurchy

Ian, Since you mentioned the Buckmaster line, how would the 4.5-14x Buckmaster fall short of the 10x 3200 and the Super Sniper you mentioned? Is repeatability similar?
