    what would you choose

I have a few parts on hand and decided I would like to build a magnum rifle. It must feed and work with AICS magazines / Remington long action. I have narrowed it down to. 7mm Rem Mag (162gr-180gr) .300 Win Mag (190gr-210gr) Chances are this rifle will see 99% of it's barrel life shooting...

Got my new Stevens 200-NOT so happy

You have your choice of McMillan, H.S. Precision, Bell and Carlson and Manners. I believe stockade does there stocks for both action lengths. Cant be sure as there site doesn't say but I think I have seen them on the 4.04". Also if you want laminate you have numerous options from SSS and stockys...

What Velocity with .300 win mag and 210 VLD

Can you please post what barrel length and velocity you are getting with your .300 Win Mag's and 210gr Berger's or Match kings. Also if you are running max pressure, Mild pressure or inbetween. Iam trying to find the best compromise between velocity and portability. Thanks.

Where are the 220 Swift gone?

Um Remington 700 Varmint SF and VSSF II are both chambered in .220 swift at least online and in my book. I didn't bother checking the other brands.

Anybody build a big 7mm to shoot light bullets?

I am tossing around the idea of building a slow twisted 7mm RUM to shoot the 120gr ballistic tip or similar bullet. Just a fun gun to blast a few chucks or out of fur season problem coyotes. If you have done it I would love to hear how it worked out. I am undecided on reamer specs, barrel...

    Budget Long range coyote rifle

It will be different for you as Iam in Canada and we pay quite a bit more up here for the same equipment. Basic break down is like this Donor Action 500 Stock 495 Trigger 135 Barrel 460 Smith charge to spin the barrel on 50 bedding 75 so without optics or mounts about 1715

    Budget Long range coyote rifle

Whats not to understand? Most everyone interested in precision shooting reloads, so ammo availiablity is not an issue. The rifle was built on a budget because I am not rich and at the end of the day it's a coyote rifle. I can load 40 rounds of my .220AI ammo that I would consider "match"...

    Budget Long range coyote rifle

Finally got the load developement done with the fireformed brass and 75gr A-max. I settled on 43.5gr of RL-22. I am still learning lots about precision shooting so I do believe the groups can be shrunk still as Iam the limiting factor. All thats left is to find a chrony and build and verify a...

    Budget Long range coyote rifle

Budget Long range coyote rifle (new target pics in post 5) I decided I wanted a custom rifle for coyote's. I always wanted a cartridge that wasn't that common, and I also wanted to do it on a cheaper budget as it is a coyote rifle. Well I got it back today. Savage Model 11 with detachable mag...

Can I do better than this combo?

After finding out the big boomers are just not for me, and not really having too many spots to shoot past 650 yards in hunting areas. I have decided to look for a better set up. I have came to the conclusion that a 7mm SAUM shooting the 160 Accubond might be the best combo for me? Deer...

Am I getting the wrong numbers?

I didn't want to start another thread about what caliber but I feel I have too? I am looking for a 1000 yard deer rifle and 500 yard moose and elk rifle. I wan't it to be no more than 11 pounds scoped and no muzzle break. I know I can handle a .300 Win Mag in a sendero but found the RUM and...

    Winchester Model 70 ????

I have been planning a build for a WSM and have been looking at custom actions and dreaming but would likely build it on a Remington action. Today I seen some of the Push feed model 70 in WSM bolt fact for low prices. Is there any reason not to use this action? With good components and...

    any reviews for this brake?

I really like the look of the Gentry B.A.T. Muzzle break but as we know with brakes function trumps looks. Anybody use one or seen one in action?
