    Kuiu gear

I have the attack pants and have been putting them to the test this year elk hunting. Over 50 miles in them and they are performing well. I was about to jump full into their line but recent reports of some issues with their merino base layers have put that on hold. Ill wait and see how this gets...

Fact or Myth of Moose pushing out Elk?

Lots of moose in the area I was elk hunting this week. Moose were up much higher than normal as well. Elk were still around. Did hear from a buddy whose dad arrowed an elk a few weeks back that went 40 yards and layed down only to get run off by a bull moose.

Bagged and Tagged: My '13 WY Speed Goat

.22 Caliber for Goats in Wyoming

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I know there are plenty of people that will tell you that a 17hmr is big enough for an antelope, if it's placed right. Antelope hunting isn't like deer hunting. The distances are usually much further and there is almost always wind. Give yourself a...

    Opening Day Antelope

Saturday was opening day of my antelope season. This would be the first year that my son would accompany me on a big game hunt. He has been tagging along with me calling coyotes for a year now, and to the range for even longer. I don't know which of us was more excited. He had been pointing out...

    Calling Mountain Lions

I would take a look at Rain-Shadow.com as he has quite a few stories, reviews and products dedicated to calling the big cats. I've talked with Steve several times and have one of his custom knives. He is a stand up guy who knows his stuff.

    Coyote Scopes....Need advice!

You should do well with the m223. If you tried it and liked it and then that is what matters, not the opinions of an internet forum. My main coyote guns are wearing a coyote special and a vortex with a circle/duplex reticle. I have found that I really get on target fast with the circular...

    I've located them. Now what?

Don't beat yourself up too much. It takes a while to not only learn what sounds and sequences are going to work, but to also make them sound right. I spent a lot of time driving the dogs nuts at home practicing my calling. Now the family doesn't even flinch when I start blowing on some calls...

    Good day with the boy

Wanted to get an early start this morning as the weather channel was calling for 10mph winds increasing into the day. From experience I know I can usually double or triple that number where I wanted to hunt and get closer to the actual wind speed. Things didn't work out quite as planned though...

    Greenhorn coyote hunter

Paying attention to your set up is the biggest, playing the wind, field of view, shooting lanes. You are going to always have some that just won't come in, but if your wind is right and you can see them and get a good shot your success will go up.

    Wyoming 2012 doe tags?

I don't see anything for area 60 on the reduced price doe tags. Only thing I see is the full price tags for 60 which are any antelope. Not sure why, but don't think you are missing anything. After the draw they may release reduced price tags for that area based on draw results.

How to Get a 4x4 for NR Hunter in WY

This past summer was good for them. Lots of does had twins that made it through, coupled with a mild winter thus far should help the numbers in the next few years if it keeps up. Just hope it helps the mulies out too.

    HMA Permission Slips for Wyoming

You will want to check your area for HMA's once you know which one you will be hunting. Many of them have specific dates you can hunt there, not always the entire season, and many are draws you will have to enter. You can pick up a walk in area brochure at sporting goods stores and many gas...

WY Rules on rifles in vehicles

Some pretty good information shared here already. Just to clarify some things I have experience with. You can still apply for and have a CCW permit, but it is not required to carry concealed in WY as long as you can legally purchase and own firearms. I have been stopped several times either by...
