Just adding to the topic here. But a friend wanted me to get a good load for his 28 nosler ( said he didn’t have the time). Says it takes a #38 on the box he left me a #4. I also have a #43 the only difference I see is a little thickness. So why so many that fit different cases.
That’s a cool little tool I’ve never seen one before. You would have noticed something was wrong when you went to close the bolt tho. Something to always check when loading a new set up. I’d have to use an oal gauge to check not having that tool.
That’s weird, how do you have it set. I think I changed my setting to pick up the bullet not go off sound. I don’t like shooting it to much with out the suppressor. My gains speed when I put it on I think like 30fps if I remember right. I haven’t messed with testing loads for a while.
Yeah that’s probably what I will do just load an accurate shooting load. I really changed calibers in hopes that the es would be lower. The gun used to be a 243 and it was around 25 es. This set up isn’t really meant to shoot all that far so the es shouldn’t be a big concern. However I changed...
Yeah it’s possible I hope the barrel is just speeding up. Not sure how I’m going to get around it if it’s the powder. My plan is to run around another 40 rounds through it and then try it again.
Thanks for the input everyone. I had a chance to shoot some test loads through it. The speed is way funny at the moment. I did shoot a really good group but the extreme spread was over 60 fps. Speed was an average of 2800 fps, that’s not max load and it wasn’t showing any signs of pressure.
Dang that’s pretty good. When I cleaned it after a few shots there was un burned powder in the barrel. That’s with the factory hornady black rounds I bought. I’m going to be running H4350 with federal match primers. So I hope I get a good consistent burn. I originally wanted to go with an 18”...
So I said I would make a post about the krg bravo when I got some rounds through it. I started out with my worn out 243 and decided I would try a 6 creed. So I bought a shorty proof barrel (16.5”), used my remington action and had the krg bravo already. The bravo is pretty comfortable to get...
My 300 prc is right at 2800 with hornady brass and a 225 eldm. It’s about all I could get. On the plus side I have some ADG brass in the mail. I would think you could get over 2900 with a 215. I haven’t tried the ADG yet but I bet it’s 100 fps faster.
My 6.5x284 killed 3 elk last year with a 147 eldm. One at 500 one at 530 and another at 250. They do pretty well but elk are tough. I built a 300 prc for my elk gun still shooting a eldm. I’m going to try the new Barnes bore rider if it shoots good I will run it. If not I’m going to stick with...
