They’re great if you’re cleaning them in cool weather. My wife occasionally makes lasagna from a ham, but it’s been awhile, mainly because I don’t often clean one.
A piglet is good for the grill, if cleaned and split lengthwise.
I drive thru D’Hanis on the the way to my place in Rio Frio about once a month. Hogs are thick there, but not as thick as they were before I bought a thermal imaging setup. It’s funny how you start out eating some of them and then go to just finding a gully to empty the front end loader into.
Being in my 70’s, I’ve forgotten my share…a box of .25-06 ammo on the roof of the truck, my bowhunting release (used to be a glove or hair tab) but I can tell you this - you can get dressed in the dark, walk throughout the woods in the dark, and even set up your position, bow and all. But when...
Boretech, dry patches, Frog Lube CLP gel on a patch, then another dry patch. The Frog Lube always seems to catch a little dirt, even after the Boretech.
Cold shot is fine.
I used to use Royal Purple 5w-30 synthetic motor oil and it worked great, but I got a little tired of the smell.
But I did miss the fact that he has a WSM bolt. Length of action certainly affects what he can do with his loads, but isn’t a deal killer for the 6.5 PRC. Having said that, mine is still on a long action.
Nope. 6.5 PRC will require a .540 bolt face. It’s made every day on short, medium and long actions. His .270 bolt face would have to be opened up or a replacement bolt employed.
For general use and just banging around, I’ve used 22 grains of 2400 behind a Speer 200 gr. HP for 30 years. It works fine on hogs and isn’t bad at all to shoot, though 2400 is pretty dirty stuff. Actually used it for a carry load at one time.
A lot of guys are installing an arca plate in the area just forward of the bottom metal, away from the recoil lug. Better rigidity in the stock that way, closer to center of gravity, and both bipod and tripod can be used, with the right adapter.
Ditto the school. Optics were very good, turrets had a good feel. Parallax adjustment was pretty stiff. Went to NF NX8 at the end of the second day and liked the glass better. Still, we were shooting clay pigeons at 1000.
