Hunting Rifle: Anyone Else Have No Desire for a Silencer?

I would prefer to hear the surrounding sounds. Without hearing protection. As I live in grizzly country now. I have lost hearing from an unexpected firearm discharge. If it would have had a suppresor on that rifle i would still have my hearing. The state I lived in wouldn't allow them. A bunch...

5 X 6 Muley down! Thanks for all the posts.

338 Lapua, 300 Sierra Match king. 2808 fps. When I bought my Lapua, I really wanted a 300 PRC. I couldnt find brass, dies, bullets, anything for it. I could find everything for 338 LM. So I went with it. I do think it did a great job. The shot hit just back. I didn't hold enough wind. Scrubbed...

5 X 6 Muley down! Thanks for all the posts.

Shot it about 35 minutes before sundown. It turned and faced me. Wobbling. Figured I'd die right there if we left it over night. I didn't have a Shot at 1008 yards. Best to look in the morning. The buck traveled in the night about 120 yards laterally. We first looked in the draw next to it. Had...

5 X 6 Muley down! Thanks for all the posts.

Guy, I just wanted to chime in. Saying thank you for the many post through out the last few years. I've learned a ton. I shot my 1st Idaho buck in unit 39. It was a 1008 yard shot. I held 24.5" for 7-8 mph wind and 240" for bullet drop. It was 1.75 miles to pack it out and 3000 feet up hike. 5...

.308 or .338 Caliber Elk and Up Cartridge

I shoot 338 Lapua. I have two of them. The 338 is almost out of favor because of the 300 PRC. I was on the fence about purchasing the 300 PRC. I do like them alot. Then before buying one, I tried to get dies, powder, the heavy 190's. Maybe now they are available, I couldn't find any a few months...

    grouping questions

I didn't say jamb it! If is just touching and he has .003 of neck tension it will not get stuck. I just did what I suggested and shot a less than 5" group at 955 yards. I had the bullet .005 off before and had a 13" groups. You asked why? Well, Brian Litz wrote about the why and how. Read up on...

Try a few round right at the lands. If it likes .010 off it might really like .001

    Idaho wolf hunt

The F&G often are desk jockeys. The hunter and farms that are in the outdoors understand and see first hand what's going on. They are the true stewards. Not F&G. F&G hold the job title. They will outlaw the weight of a rifle instead of the caliber in question. 50BMG.

    Reducing ES

Winchester brass presses its primer holes. It leave tiny flanges inside. Take a drill bit just larger than the hole and by hand you can feel the burrs come of once you drop the bit in, center it in the hole, an twist it. You can feel it once it's nice and smooth.

    Ca approved bullets?

Just because it's not approved but it's a non lead bullet and you've cut one in half, they will just take one and test it. You'll be fine. What caliber are you shooting? I have shot lots of Barnes. One in 5 is a flyer and ya never know which one. The Hornaday GMX are my goto in my...
