Is this brass safe to reload???

MDRs are tough on brass. If you haven't already done so, try dialing down the gas setting. As for the brass, other than the pokes at CM, if it can be sized and will chamber, it should be fine as long as you're not pushing the pressure limits already.

    Holding a Magnum while shooting??

Well I confess that I was taught by the same outfit (Parris Island for me), but way back when it was with a M-14 and bi-pods weren't an option...just really tight slings and a much more flexible and youthful body! I've been through Todd Hodnett's course since, and I was already using the same...

    My Son-in-laws Christmas Present

The spirit of giving is a blessing that you may also impart to your son-in-law by example. May he become a man with a heart of compassion for others. God Bless & Merry Christmas!

    Best Quick Detach scope mount

The thing you will notice from the vid is the POI direction changes with each time the scope is removed so its not just a matter recording how much it moves & changing your windage etc & thinking you will be re zero'd as you don't know which way it has moved! Two things I notice in the video...

    Best Quick Detach scope mount

LaRue Quick Detach, appropriately tightened (they should be a bear to loosen by hand), work well for me. I swap out a Night Force ATACR 4x16 between my DT MDR and my wife's Weatherby Camilla. Biggest issue is that I put a 20 MOA rail on hers so the zero is about 8 mils off when changing. I...

#1 best tip for new shooters trying to get into the long range game!

If you were a raw beginner, I'd put the 6.5 on top of the list because of its inherent ballistic advantages (now I'm going to contradict myself and tell you the .308 is a great choice because it doesn't have the ballistic advantages so you'll have to learn the toughest part of LR shooting...

Let's see where you shoot. Pics please.

The pic is just the rifle range. The clubhouse, skeet, & pistol stuff is across the road, about a half-mile away. They have lodging available there for attendees if you're traveling in for the class - the owner, Julie, is a sweetheart! The classes are usually taught by Pete Gould, retired...

Let's see where you shoot. Pics please.

I get some serious mountain envy looking at the places you guys shoot out west! Here's a shot of the rifle range at Austin Gun Club. The name is a bit of a misnomer as its really out by Lampasas, about 40 miles out of Austin. We have 5 lanes, all reaching out to 1000+ with 70+ targets...

    Case Prep Question

Have you used Birchwood Casey case cleaner in your sonic solution? That stuff gets some nasty goop off brass. Here's an old article on sonic cleaning that got me started. https://www.6mmbr.com/ultrasonic.html I run through both the vinegar and BC solutions then through clean (reverse...

Cross Hair Focus, Target Focus, and Correct Parallax

I agree with lancetkenyon - ocular adjustment is imperative. If the ocular is set wrong, side parallax will never be correct. I set up in my most-used shooting position, and drape a white tissue over the front lens with a bright light source in front (usually do this in my home). Start with...

    300 Norma initial testing

Who did your barrel? Also in a SRS-A1 and looking to get into either or both a Norma 300 Mag and Norma 338 Mag when I get back from an expatriate role in the Czech Republic.

    Great deal on creedmoor brass

Thanks from here also. Even though I'll be in the Czech Republic for 18 months or so, that's worth stockpiling for my return.

Nightforce vs Huskemaw or something else in that price range??

NightForce BEAST and ATACR 4x16 with TReMoR 2 & 3 respectively used on Desert Tech SRS and MDR respectively. Zero regrets. If you are a veteran some dealers give nice discounts...Sports Optics in LA does as I recall and have good prices to start. My wife took a LR Hunting course (keeper!) and...
