    Kentucky Elk Hunting

Good luck guys. Living in Ohio I always thought it would be nice to pull one of the Elk tags in Kentucky. Not sure how I would get it out of the woods if I did get one, but it would be fun. Jim

    outdoor hobbies besides shooting

Here are a few of the more fun hobbies I have. Photography Fishing Hiking The best hiking trip was to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back up the next morning. Well at least the plan was to come back up the next day. There was a huge storm that rolled through the canyon when we were 2...

What's your favorite portable shooting bench

I found a set of plans out on the net years ago for a bench call the Booger Bench. I built it for less then $50 and have been using it ever since. It sets in the corner of the garage when I'm not using it. When I need it I just throw it in the back of the pickup and away I go. During the summer...

Springfield Armory 4x14x56 range finding scope

I bought a new Springfield M1A about 10 years ago and also bought this scope with it. I sold the M1A a few years later and the person didn't want the scope. So it has been sitting in the back of my safe for several years now. I have been thinking about selling it but to be honest I have no idea...

New gun for Ohio deer season

My slug gun is a scoped Winchester SX3. I also roll my own sabots which throws a 45 caliber, 300 grain Hornady XTP bullet down range. It is very accurate at the 150 yard marker. That is one of the reasons it has been a tough decision for me to hunt with a rifle or continue hunting with my...

New gun for Ohio deer season

I have hunted with the 44 magnum for years here in Ohio. Of course it was with my T/C Contender with a 12" barrel. Using the 240 grain JHP, I have taken deer out to 100 yards with excellent results. So it is an excellent round for deer if you can keep the shots at 100 yards or less. I will be...

    Cheap shooting bags.....$$

I had a few of the canvas lead shot bags laying around the reloading room. So I filled them with rice and wired them shut. Nice and light and work great. You can even find them cheap on ebay if you don't have any at the house. Jim

    Rem 700 stock pressure

+1 on that one My Remington VS came with a H.S. Precision stock and I loved it. My SPS Varmint came with the piece of crap stock like you're talking about. It now wears a H.S. Precision just like my VS and I haven't looked back. Jim
