    How's Norma Brass?

Bringing this thread back to report on my own limited, but I think, significant experience with Norma brass. So far I have not loaded any or tested any loads. I bought 100 pieces of Norma 300 Win Mag brass and compared it carefully to 100 pieces of new Remington brass: 1. The Norma brass is...

Where has all the RUM Brass gone?!?!?!?

I could be wrong, but I would say Nosler is cashing in on the current demand-generated shortage. I for one expect small companies and individuals to gouge (if I may use the term). But I do not expect major manufacturers or retailers to do so. We can all vote with our feet!

Where has all the RUM Brass gone?!?!?!?

Thanks, Digg. Yeah, I pretty much stay away from those folks--not that I have any problem with someone charging high prices (long live free enterprise/willing buyer-willing seller and all that sort of thing)--just that I ain't a willing buyer!

    How's Norma Brass?

I have 100 pieces of Norma 300 Win Mag on the way. Does anyone feel that they are also superior to lower priced brass in the areas of uniform neck wall thickness and concentricity?

Where has all the RUM Brass gone?!?!?!?

When I had my 300 RUM built about four years ago, I stocked up on 600 rounds of Rem brass. Now, I would like to find a couple hundred rounds of Norma. I have located and bought some for 300 Win, but find none for the RUM.

    300 RUM: 180 vs 200 gr Accubond

AZ: 3175 would definitely weigh in favor of the 200. Do you have a feel yet or have you shot that load enough to give you an idea of barrel/throat erosion? Does anyone see 200 Accubonds available occasionally ?

    300 RUM: 180 vs 200 gr Accubond

I actually bought the IMR 4350 for use in the 300 Winnie, specifically for use with the 130 TTSX bullets. I could not find any load data at all for the RL25 I had squirreled away. As they say, sometimes no answer is an answer!

    300 RUM: 180 vs 200 gr Accubond

Thanks for the information, Lefty and Seaman. Right now, I have no 200s to work with and availability is not good. I have a large inventory of RL 25 and 5 pounds each of RL 22 and IMR 4350. Lefty: what is your opinion of those powders for 180/200 grains? I also have 250 Barnes TTSX 230...

    300 RUM: 180 vs 200 gr Accubond

Barrelnut: sorry, I meant to include muzzle velocity. For the 180 grain, I used 3428--which may be more than I end up using--but which was chronographed by my gunsmith, with a 27 inch bbl on my rifle. For the 200, I used 3100, which is a bit ambitious, but, I think doable.

    300 RUM: 180 vs 200 gr Accubond

Thanks for your comments. Actually, those numbers are for velocity remaining at 700 yards.

    300 RUM: 180 vs 200 gr Accubond

Using the Swarovski calculator, both bullets with 300 yard zero and assumed cross wind of 10 MPH at 700 yards: 180 grain rises no more than 3.3" at midrange. 200 grain rises no more than 4.1" at midrange. 180 grain stated BC=.507 200 grain stated BC=.588 180 grain: Drop=62.2" 200 grain...

    Question

Good info, Barrelnut. My equipment is all new and I have all the measurement tools For verification--except for standard weights to test the scale, and I figure on using a few different weights of bullets for that.

    Question

OK, I know I ask for a lot of handholding and reassurance as I creep carefully back into reloading--but, coward that I am, if I ever decide to shuffle off this mortal coil, it will not involve the undertaker picking pieces of a Remington 700 action out of my sinuses! My gunsmith used two loads...

Controversial Topic And Poll: Brown Bear & Slingshots

Like the old, old story about the guy who sold bells to hippie backpackers who didn't want to carry guns but wore bells to let the bears know where they were. He told them whenever they saw bear droppings, to start ringing the bells. "How can you tell if the droppings are from a Grizzly,"...

    powder available

The 1 pound packs of the IMR 4350 are still available at Powder Valley--4320 as well. I thought they would disappear more quickly. Brass is still in short supply.
