7 mm mag bullet for Elk

If you want to shoot factory ammo, I'd try to find Federal 160gr trophy bonded or 150gr trophy copper. The trophy copper was very accurate in my factory Savage 111 7mm Rem mag. If you are going to reload, you have a lot of options but I wouldn't use any of that ammo you have on Elk.

    243 powder?

I've tried quite a few powders in the .243. I use IMR 3031 for 55gr and they haul butt! I haven't tried anything else with 55s because I haven't needed to. With 87gr hpbt, Superformance works good in my 20" gun. Pretty sure I've tried IMR7828ssc and possibly H4350. 95gr my best load was with...

    Stop neck sizing your brass!!!

Now this is getting interesting. What would cause the brass to exceed the static dimensions of the chamber enough to need full length sizing? That would be pressure exceeding the elastic yield strength of the barrel steel!

    Stop neck sizing your brass!!!

Lee will make you a collet neck sizing die for almost any cartridge you want. All you have to do is call.

    Stop neck sizing your brass!!!

I find it interesting that none of the neck sizing guys are throwing tantrums telling the full length sizing guys that they are doing it all wrong. What does it mean, maybe nothing but it is interesting. The benchrest.com/accurate shooter comment is irrelevant because I could have said the same...

    Stop neck sizing your brass!!!

The "secret" is to cam over with the press and have the die adjusted so it only takes light pressure and doesn't break the die. Cam over the same every time and you have consistency.

    22-250AI or 22 creed

Doesn't sound like or look like a 22-250 Will headspace correctly in a 22 Creedmore chamber? Obviously, the gun goes bang but the picture posted earlier even looks like the case has the start of head separation. Stretching in the web...

    JB and Kroil...

Moly. I wet tumble my bullets and I do not pre coat the bore.

    JB and Kroil...

My bullets are all coated...and even though I've been stroking away with JB, my rifles shoot better then before.

    22-250AI or 22 creed

Improving either a 22-250 or a 22-243 gains a decent amount actually but the best reason would be to reduce or virtually eliminate case stretching. 22 Creedmore sounds really good, but I don't think it can hang with a 22-243 Ackley for pure speed.

    My dwindling arsenal.

I'm thinking of making some changes. I could thin the heard a bit, but there's a few I'd still like to add as well so?

    JB and Kroil...

OK, now how would a dry lubricant like moly, hbn or ws2 between a slick/smooth bore and a bullet behave?
