Digital readout preference on your mill, etc.

I've had a Mitutoyo DRO on my Bridgeport for 25+ years. Stays on most of the time. Occasionally I get an error message and I blow off the scales and reset the unit. It's a plain Jane counter but has served me well.

More News on the 6.5 Creedmoor: U.S. Military and DHS

5 companies are under contract to build prototypes with hybrid ammo. Everyone has their own case design. Some light reading. It will get complicated when it's time to pick a round for the new carbine...

More News on the 6.5 Creedmoor: U.S. Military and DHS

I was using a BC of .480 for Berger's 155 hybrid and a simple ballistic calculator for a quick comparison with only the bullet changing. My goal was to show how close they were in certain performance categories. With the right design and something around 160 grs. I think the BC could crowd .500...

More News on the 6.5 Creedmoor: U.S. Military and DHS

Dope changes with every lot of ammo. Here's what I've never understood. You don't need heavy bullets in a 308. You need well designed bullets. 155-162 gr. bullet 308-155 gr bullet @2900 fps (doable but may require a new powder) @1K yds. come ups 8.6 mils 10 mph wind 2.3 mils 6.5-140 gr. bullet...

Thoughts and experience with expander dies to set bullet tension.

I do turn necks in my target rifles. Obviously that helps. I don't anymore in my hunting rifles. I've got better things to do. I use bushing dies for some and standard dies for some. That means I drag the expander ball back through. Many of the dies I lapped the neck area to decrease the amount...

Thoughts and experience with expander dies to set bullet tension.

In the past some have thought that you get better uniformity in regards to neck tension. Size the neck a bit smaller than necessary and then run an expander mandrel through it. It may sound good but in 40 years of competition I've never been tempted to try it. Good brass, good dies, good...

    30 NOSLER OR 300 PRC

I've built PRC's on Ultra mag actions and it just works with the staggered box. As Alex said a center feed box removes all the drama with larger cases. My PRC feeds like a 30-06. A standard magnum action has rails to accommodate a .532" diameter rim. Same diameter as the PRC. I would like to see...

    Thanks I appreciate that.

    30 NOSLER OR 300 PRC

Not a problem. Civil disagreements are always welcome. Factory ammo fits most magazines just fine. Factory chamber and factory ammo shoots pretty good in most rifles. The PRC wasn't designed for mid length magnum actions. COAL/Mag length we can and do manage just like any round in the custom...

    30 NOSLER OR 300 PRC

Hey guys someone alerted me to this thread. I'm not going to read all the BS. I've heard that some claim that because of what I said they inferred that the Nosler is superior to the PRC. That's cow flop. It's just different. I'll explain. If you look at SAAMI chamber designs you'll see a wide...
