Thank you very much. I am using a Shooting Chrony Alpha Master, it's pretty good. So I will concentrate on shooting ten shots through it, get the average and use that in my ballistics calculations. I won't worry so much about the Velocity Variation for now until i start reloading. I'll also...
"Honestly if your crony gives you SD it will also give you ES" thank you guys. I will double check my Chrony and see if it does in fact give "ES" (which i didn't realize was Velocity Variation. Getting my Velocit Variation down from 45 to 20 might be tough since i'm using Federal Premium...
If most chronographs give you Standard Deviation, (and unfortunately not Velocity Variation), why don't most Ballistic Calculators/Aps ask for Standard Deviation? Thank you.
I am not ready to start reloading, but I have been spending the money on quality factory loads and my Variation is much too high. It's at about 60 now. I use Federal Fusion 180 grain for my .300 Win Mag. My highest velocity out of ten shots was 3085 and my lowest was 2964. I believe that...
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm just going to keep my set up as is on this rifle and get comfortable with the mil/moa system. Then if I ever get something a little more long range I'll invest in a moa/moa set up and just keep it all in the world of minutes. Thank you
The other day I saw a guys reticle that was in MOA rather than MIL dots. I thought that makes so much sense. I have a scope with turrets in 1/4 MOA, but my reticle is in MIL. Yes of course I can do the conversion, but why would anyone want an extra step? Ranging targets isn't any easier with MOA...
Orkan @orkan Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. So with that being said I wonder why Leupold doesn't offer a reticle on minutes to match their dials? Why would the military want to have the dial not match the radical? Seems like they do that a lot.
Please forgive me for my beginner question. To answer your question first I would love to just use MOA, but I'm a little confused because I think I use both. For example my scope's reticle is mil dots and i sometimes will use them to range if I don't have my laser. But my dials are 1/4 clicl MOA...
