The worst day possible has come.

My heart goes out to you. Two years ago, my collie, and then a year ago my beagle. They were both 15 1/2 yrs old at their time. My friends were never more than 5 ft away from me virtually every minute of my life. This picture is hanging in the entry of my home, and it's the first thing I see...

Good ES, groups not so good.

The next tension is so important on getting low ES ..I totally agree on finishing with mandrels but you may have to run it through one time or many times. You're trying to get the same release feel from your press. I work the necks, rotating the brass a bit at a time until the weight of the...

    Off the shelf help

I've put together a handful of Tikka T3 Lite 300WM. Shooting hornady 180 gr SST ammo around 3100 fps, all 1/2 moa. Burris Fullfield 3x12x56. They kick so I put Witt machine clamp on muzzle brakes on them. Nice lightweight 500 yd rigs for about $1700

    Rebuilt 700 in 270 Win

I've customized a handful of Rem 700 rifles in the 270 Win caliber. Never could get Nosler brass to work either. ES was high like others have experienced. All of the guns shoot Winchester brass, Proof Sendero Light barrel in 1-8 twist, the 170gr EOL, .5 MOA or better, 59.5-60.7 grains of...

Bolt bounce and Scope shift when dry firing

The gun shoots great, but I believe this is what is causing the groups to be always on a horizontal plane. This is the only gun I've built that have had this issue. Sure, it may not shoot any better than it is right now, but sure would be nice to know...and when you have two buddies that...

Bolt bounce and Scope shift when dry firing

The gun shoots 3/8"groups all day long. the groups are always a horizontal line. the groups are pretty consistent from the middle then left of center.

Bolt bounce and Scope shift when dry firing

And I do believe that it is affecting accuracy. IMO, there's got to be a mechanical reason for it.

Bolt bounce and Scope shift when dry firing

I believe the POI is moving because the gun is moving, not that the actual scope is moving on the gun. Its an ATACR 7-35 with Nightforce rings on a 6 Dasher and weighs 17#, low recoil. I have another rifle (virtually identical) that the bolt does not jump and the crosshairs stay on the target...

Bolt bounce and Scope shift when dry firing

Can anyone help me out here? Getting used to the trigger on my gun. Its a Rem 700 thats been blueprinted, PTG bolt installed and lugs lapped, with a Proof steel barrel. Trigger Tech trigger set at 1# 3oz. Bolt bounces every time I dry fire it and scope POI shifts left 1/4" every time at 100...
