I have an A bolt stainless stalker in 7 mag and am very happy with it. Had a trigger job to bring it down to 2#. Very accurate and 1st two cold bore shots almost touching using old Nosler flat base bullets. Would not shoot Sierras accurately. Would be very difficult to get it to rust...
If you go with the 17 MIV, I recommend considering the Hornady 25 gr gr HP. It will not keyhole in a 1/10 twist barrel and is less expansive than the V-Max line of bullets. H335 worked well for me. Wind is a problem for the 17s in my experience.

Not to be a kill joy, but last summer I found the 17hmr to not provide "splat" factor. They just fall over dead. It is not usable in standard Montana winds, unless shot early in the day. I also limited shots to 150 yds on prairie dogs. Winds are such an issue that I no longer shoot 17s for...
I have experienced Hornady tipped bullets leaving orange coloring in the acetone. Tumbling them results in the vertical seam being cleaned out and some of the tips will come off in the process. Nosler tipped bullets do not do this.
My experience has been that some bullet manufacturers use a coating on their bullets that prevents Hbn coating. As a first step, I wash all bullets in acetone which dries very quickly. However, it eats latex gloves very quickly also. I also found that after the bullet container and steel bbs...
I shot 50 gr Nos BT @ 4,000 fps jamed using Win 760 in my 22-250 AI. However, my groups opened up eventually. I discovered that the throat eroded 0.053." Probably shot 1,000 rounds through it. It used to be extremely accurate. Now am testing with 55 gr bullets with long shanks for seating...
Euler: Thanks for posting the picture demonstrating differences in bubble level position of the same manufacturer's anti-cant device. I just recently discovered this issue earlier this year. Your picture clearly verifies this problem. Now I have to figure out what to do about it -Is it the...
The EBR7 Gen II is my favorite scope for varmint shooting. I was concerned that The busy mrad FFP reticle would wipe out small critters @ 300 yds, but found out it was not a problem. I do not like my Gen I battery protruberance (sp?) as that is where I like to put my Vortex anti-cant device...
Steve:
One more thing after using a dehydrator. I have to shake the brass upside down to ensure all of the pins have been removed. One or two cases can be loaded with pins and even require banging on the sides of the rubber tub of the pin tumbler to get them all out.
