Premium large bins from Swarovski, Leica or, Zeiss?

Sarcasm is not a lost art, it is practiced daily by some. I don't mind ****ing contests they are entertaining. Usually people who spend 100 plus days are set in their minds what they prefer. Had a guy tell me on a FB page no one can tell the difference in scope glass. I sat there and thought...

    6.5 PRC 156 load development

Yeah I think it'll take hot load in a 24 it seems. A 26" should be fine on a normal load charge. Running a 156 at 2900-2950 in a 22-24 is still pretty **** good IMHO. My 6.5-284 running 24" was struggling past 2950 with 140's.

Premium large bins from Swarovski, Leica or, Zeiss?

Not for me. I use a LRF with ballistic app for hunting predators and have no desire to run multiple units anymore. The sig and G7 were pioneers in the LRF integration world with a click and instant data acquisition on screen. I only use my kestrel for a wind read occasionally now. Otherwise...

Premium large bins from Swarovski, Leica or, Zeiss?

For sure. I am fortunate enough to be able to use an outfitter discount for my optic purchases. If I go leica I'll get rid of my sig 2400 and swaro el. Both have served me very well.

Premium large bins from Swarovski, Leica or, Zeiss?

Everyone has a preference depending their particular biology for sure. In the higher end glass arena it boils down to the individual. I have spent a considerable amount of time with the leica HD and swaro EL and notice slight color variations in the image. If I don't go back and forth I really...

    6.5 PRC 156 load development

I am at 2915 with a 22". You should be close to 3k in the end. H1000, RL26, retumbo, and N565 are better choices than 560 it seems. 560 and RL26 work the same with light bullets but the 156 seems to like the lower pressure spike of the slower powders. With 560 and ADG type brass I'd expect you...

Hate to Do This: 6.5 CM vs 6.5 PRC

I have both and 6.5-284. For deer and 500 and less like you describe I'd stick with the creed. The prc is only going to get there quicker but the difference isn't that much at that range. In the creed you still have the fps to make the bullet perform and energy is still plenty high. I can tell...

Premium large bins from Swarovski, Leica or, Zeiss?

I have EL's and my outfitter runs leica. They are about the same and I have a love for both. Having said that another guide buddy loves Maven's and Meopta is worth a look. For studying country I use a fiesol tripod 3342. It weighs 3.5lbs and is also used for my rifle. This tripod is bada$$...

    Building first custom rifle

It can be a consideration but neither are that bad. What kills them is high rate of fire and fast hot powder. I see 2000 rounds out the 6.5-284's in normal hunting and long range practical comp. LRPC is 4 shots on 2 targets with a 4 min time limit. If you shoot BR or PRS with either the barrel...

    Building first custom rifle

6.5-284 is the one cartridge that stand out to me in a line up for a wide variety of hunting, when considering reloading components vs effective. I have had 7 and everyone was a shooter. I still have several barrels on my shelf I will keep. I went to the 6.5 PRC in a short action switch barrel...

What binoculars and power are you all using for hunting and scouting in open country

Swaro 10x50 el. I’d run 15-18 mavens on a tripod for prairie country tho. Quality of glass is most important

How is StaBall 6.5 working out?

Ran stabil in my 6.5 creed and it was ok. Liked 4350 and definitely rl26 better.

    6.5 PRC velocity question

Seems fast but not unreasonable at all. I’d say 3050 is a sweet spot tho. My rifle runs 140-144 at 3040/3050 and it works well there.

The reason we anneal brass cases.

No worries. I can see that. Crimping is a bit of a lost art.

The reason we anneal brass cases.

I never said crimping doesn't affect tension or anything closely related to crimping not being effective. I said annealing doesn't have much if any effect on crimped cases. Annealing is for brass neck life and metal elasticity. Elasticity is the issue with tension when using bushing dies and...
