    Runnig moose shoot?

You beat me to it. I wouldn't carry a 308 on a moose hunt unless I knew I was getting with 100 yards of a moose at which point I'd probably carry a lever action with iron sights. If I was going to hunt a big bull moose especially at some distance I'd be looking into some magnum cartridges.

    High Velocity Throat Erosion

Franklin Armory developed an AR15 with straight rifling and it keyholes like hell so I guess these bullets are supposed to fix that. It's been almost 5 years now and I don't see any production ammo available though. https://www.reformationfirearms.com/untitled.html

    High Velocity Throat Erosion

Yeah I agree, though it not too far away on a burn chart from the other powders. I was just surprised at how much hotter it was.

    High Velocity Throat Erosion

I think the big difference here is that machine guns are not given time to cool down between shots like most guys on here are doing with their bolt action rifles. So you kind of have an apples to oranges scenario. We were swapping out hot barrels not because of loss of accuracy per se, but...

    5.56 Hammer Loads

I haven't tried the 35gr 5.56 yet, but as a follow up I tried the 101gr Hammers in my 22" Savage 110 in 30-06 with Varget. Per ButterBean's advice I used 55gr as my start point. Looks like I have room to try going even higher. The primers, bolt lift and lack of ejector mark were all looking...

What is THE Ultimate 30cal Cartridge for ELR/Reloading?

    300 Raptor? Pushing 240's at almost 3300 fps. https://apsrifles.com/Raptor_Wildcats.html

    Fair price for reloading?

Edit: Looks like a couple people beat me to this. In Kentucky Ballistic's defense the ammo he bought was listed as brand new military surplus ammo. To date there was speculation that it was reloading but last I saw they are still analyzing the rifle and ammo to determine the cause. Serbu has...

300 PRC 1:8 twist: Lightest bullets with accuracy.

Over-spinning a bullet won't decrease accuracy. The issue with fast twist rates is that jacketed bullets will blow up if spun too fast. The thin jackets long range hunting bullets will blow up easier. That's an advantage to mono bullets. They are one piece and won't blow up. Butterbean is...

    High velocity factory 308 cartridge

Possibly a dumb question, but the 20 MOA base is mounted the correct direction right?

    .410x73Mag?

My best guess here is that the case is the whole length of the chamber so there is no room to have the bullet protruding from the end of the case mouth. Based on the shape of the crimp, I'm guessing the bullet is tapered rather than flat. They likely crimped it down like that to aid in loading...

    .410x73Mag?

The photo of the box shows both. Right below the .410-3" Magnum it shows (.410/73 Magnum) I assume the name 410 is so common world wide that it is being used as a name more so than a measurement. Like when most people say 9mm they are referring to the 9x19 Luger even though there are many 9mm...

Dramatic drop in velocity with exact same components - strange! Ever seen this??

Bump! Did the OP ever get back out there to shoot some more rounds at 86gr?

Changing components, could have been bad!

I don't have any experience with Winchester Rifle Primers, but in pistol primers Winchester are known for being very hard. When people start putting lighter triggers into their handguns they can start to get light primers strikes and these are often found on Winchester and CCI primers. The fix...

    5.56 Hammer Loads

Thanks. Is Varget the best powder choice or are there others you think I should try?

    5.56 Hammer Loads

Time to have some fun! Anybody have any recommendations on what powder to use and a good place to start when loading those 35gr hammers into an AR15? I've got a 5.56 1:8 twist 20" barrel. I decided to try these after I blew up some 50gr Vmax at 3400 fps with CFE223. The Federal 55gr XM193 were...
