    Acceptable Accuracy For Hog Hunting

IMO, not good enough for any animal.. by a lot. If that were my gun, I would be checking everything from scope and rings to screws, bedding, trigger and myself. I had a Savage in 300wsm a few years back, some of the time it would shoot 1/2" groups but most of time I would be all over the place...

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

Look dude... I don't care how many animals you've killed.. Really! You do you, and if you think I'm full of ****... It's all good! I don't care. You can believe it or not, but until you hunt with me, then you don't know. So good luck to you! Really! I'm off to skate ski for my lunch break!.. No...

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

Perfect example of someone commenting on something they can't comprehend, and are likely too lazy to attempt... Why would you carry water?? Kill kit?... You mean a knife?? Lunch?? Are you carrying a Turkey?? Why would I strap my bow on??? I'm hunting! You clearly have no clue...You can stick to...

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

It's possible.. I've done it for 20yrs! I work my *** off during the "off" season, I lift, run, climb, hike, backcountry ski, skate ski, bike, do heavy pack hikes for hours... Spartan Races too. I pack in with about a 45-50# pack, my day pack has only necessities at maybe 10lbs?? Don't assume I...

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

How far out will I do it?? Not sure?? I've have packed a nice 5x5 out from 11 miles.. many between 8 and 10 miles...cows and bulls... Boned out and on my back of course. As one reply said... You need to know your body and be in the right mindset, it can be pretty dangerous coming down steeps and...

    Mounting Question...

Thanks for the input. It does seem a a bit dicey tolerance wise but not sure I want to thread my prized companion... This application is for hunting on 35 acre property with known anti hunters adjacent.. looking to minimize noise levels even though rifle hunting is legal in the group of...

Me too! I still have that BB gun! I think I got mine in 1975?? We lived in an apartment , so my uncle (with Mom's permission) set up a a target at the end of the hallway and I shot all the time... No holes in wall either! My first real gun and my first love that got me into shooting and...

Once fired brass from different rifle

The rifle was an off the shelf WBY Vanguard but has been trued/squared, trigger, stock etc. It shoots better than 1/4" at 100 with once fired brass (from same rifle)... about 1/2" to 3/4" with new. Always use Winchester brass and that is what the once fires I'm looking at are... Am I splitting...

Once fired brass from different rifle

Question... With brass (and everything else) being hard to find. I've seen some once fired brass for sale and am thinking of picking some up. Brass is advertised as fired for testing, tumbled and inspected for damage. In my experience once fired brass (neck sized) out of my gun gives me supreme...

How well does the average big game hunter shoot?

To my mind, practice and ethics are part of the same conversation. I shoot a lot at longer ranges out to about 700yds with my rifles and out to 80yds with my bow. I am very capable of hitting a target with consistent accuracy, at these distances, but when I hunt, I will always try to get as...

How well does the average big game hunter shoot?

I agree with the OP and above... I've taken dozens of guys out over the last 20yrs, and it blows my mind how poorly people shoot, even return hunters that are so disappointed in themselves because they either wounded an animal or didn't get one at all and say, "I'm going to practice all the time...
