Interesting enough I've been to Centralia twice and I live outside of Murphysboro and have been here my whole life, except for a brief 5 year stint that I lived in Murphysboro.
Something to think about on that 6mm Creedmore is the Hornady 87 gr Vmax, good ballistic coefficient and it is a varmint bullet that will makes prairie dogs explode at 300 yards, also anchors Antelope quite well out to 300 yards.
Last time I went to Wyoming Antelope hunting was in 2014, I had a Garmin Etrex 20 and was using the Hunt WY sd card. Back then I don’t think the OnX app existed and if it did it wasn’t very widely recommended for use.
We were hunting area 30 this year and area 29 for Antelope. Going through the...
At first I thought maybe I had made a moderator unhappy, couldn't figure why as I thought it was a very informative expereined post, then I saw many had posts and stuff not showing up due to a glitch. I'm hoping it is just a glitch. I can repost it if it does not survive.
I posted a thread yesterday in the Maps/GPS forum comparing my experience using my phone and my Garmin with the OnX app and today it is gone? I would like to ask why?
Are you wanting to turn your 7 Rem Mag into a 7 Weatherby mag? Having owned both and still having the Weatherby Mag I will say stick with the 7 Rem mag, the extra few grains of powder and extra bump in speed isn't worth the hassle of the finickiy to load for Weatherby mag with a freebore of...
I like near a .400 ballistic coefficient or above and 3200 fps or above is a good combination for me. I can't get into higher bc's with my 10 twist .243 but the 87 gr vmax at 3300 fps and my 7 mm Weatherby (very finicky) shoots 140 gr Barnes TSX's at 3450 fps. With each gun what I lack in BC I...
*****CORRECTION******
3450 fps using Norma MRP and a 140 gr Barnes TSX with a Federal 215 match primer
Earlier I had posted this was hitting 3550, I was wrong, it gets 3450 fps averaged out.
From what I remember I don't think I am at the listed max load but I have no need to run it any hotter.
Well I wouldn't run it any hotter, bolt lifts easily, primers aren't cratered or flattened, groups are consistent and velocities are all pretty close.
I think I'm still below book max, and yes all factory configurations.
In my 7mm Weatherby I am launching a 140 gr Barnes TSX at 3450 (earlier I had posted 3550 here) avg velocity using Norma MRP powder and Fed 215 match primers. I don't remember how many grains of powder off hand but I know my uncle on the other side of the farm always asks 'What in the world did...
I stay in Douglas when I go on Antelope hunts, made friends with a rancher not far from town and hunt another area nearby as well.
I love it out there.
