my son shoots a 223 ackley and my daughter shoots a 22-250 ackley...my next barrel is for me and it will be a 243 ackley with the right twist to send 105 grain amax's down range with a quickness. Right now I am shooting a standard 243, and hope to get another couple years out of it.

not so good for me... I have been trying the 110 vmax in my 308 and haven't had too much luck. I cant seem to do much better than one inch at 100 yards...and when you translate that to real world hunting for varmints....well it is pretty poor shooting. I did see the 53 grain recipe for the 748...

This is basically the same setup I use for all my varmint rifle...not really a walking varminter.

I am putting a Nightforce 12X42 NXS on my .308 and will be using it strictly for long range groundhog hunting. Will I need the 20 MOA bases for this or is there enough adjustment in the scope ittself? This is my first dance with a high end scope and I want to be sure I get everything I need...

I live just outside of York, PA. So far the farthest range I know of is 200 yards. Is there anything closer in my area other than the Williamsport 1,000 yard club? I am looking for 600-1000 yard range. Thanks

Thanks for the post I have a Savage in .308 varmint barrel. I built it and hope to complete it this spring and try to get it shooting out to 1000 yards for groundhog season. Thanks for the post....cause I had the same question.
