Limited Entry Utah Bull @ 834 yards.

Great bull and one of my favorite cartridges. Not to split hairs, but there isn’t a unit in the state that takes over 18 years to draw…not sure why it took 40 years.

    Rebarreling my Weatherby 7mm

Surprisingly they weren't high. And, they guarantee the accuracy with it. I have other rifles that I have built. Really just want this one back to what it was. (And, they already have the rifle).

    Rebarreling my Weatherby 7mm

My Weatherby Mark V of 29 years is a little tired in the barrel. Groups started opening up a few years ago and finally decided it is time to rebarrel it. Talking to Weatherby and they are offering two options. OPTION 1: 6724-06, THIS BARREL IS STAINLESS AND FLUTED BUT SHOULD FIT CUSTOMER STOCK...

    Which boots?

I honestly hike more during the elk season then just about everybody I know. Not saying I’m the best, just saying that I put some serious miles in. 200+ miles in 12 days during our elk season. Last year I had surgery on my big toe for arthritis in the toe joint. My go to boot before the surgery...

I want a legit argument against an old trusted cartridge

I’ve shot more elk with a 7mm Rem Mag than everyone I know combined. I’ve never lost one. In fact, I’ve had the opposite, I’ve dropped them and had them roll down a hill to where it took a bit to find them. Funny thing I had to switch to a cheaper bullet. I used to shoot partition 175 grain...

Just got the reloading bug...need help in deciding

Start with the Rock Chucker Kit. Don’t even think about reloading for your AR or even pistols with a single stage press. If you think you’re going to enjoy it then start saving up for a Dillon. One word of caution, don’t get sucked into the hype that you need a 650,750, or 1050 Dillon. The 550...

    Coyote killed my dog.

Use snares instead of leg traps. If a tame animal gets caught in one it won’t kill them. A wild one, most definitely will. You can find all sorts of YouTube videos on how to set snares.

    Vacuum packing my clothes

I’ve tried multiple variations of this now. Vacuum packing was great up until the return trip like others mentioned. I bought some travel travel bags that were basically 2.5 gallon ziplocks. They were good. My complaint with them is that you could burp the seal open if you didn’t have 99.9% of...

    6.5 Creedmoor build 2K budget

Lol. He actually bought a Mark V weatherby ultra light. He's a weatherby fan, and loved the feel of it.

    6.5 Creedmoor build 2K budget

I actually updated the original post because that actually wasn't the ONLY intent of this rifle. I will have my 7mm with, and a 300 RUM in the truck. If we are hiking and it is <300 yards, he can use the 6.5CM, if it is over that, I will honestly close the distance. If forced, he will use my...

    6.5 Creedmoor build 2K budget

Ohh, and I would build reloads for him. I have plenty of experience there.

    6.5 Creedmoor build 2K budget

I have a 300RUM and have a 7mm that has shot countless elk. This is a build for a friend and he has only ever shot 1 other elk. Quite a few deer, but 1 elk. I think he would like to do some long range shooting and likes the idea of the 6.5CM for light recoil. The Tikka was one of the rifles I...

    6.5 Creedmoor build 2K budget

Looking to build a 6.5 Creedmoor for a deer hunt this fall. Have a 2k budget for the package (including optics) what would you guys recommend? I have built full custom rifles in the past, but not really done a lot of making long range rifles based off of factory builds. Something factory that...
