how concerned are you with barrel life???? I have shot a 300 rem ultra mag and it wallops, but will burn a barrel out in less than 1000 rounds. My 308 is more accurate and has less than half the recoil. One of the guns has atleast 3000 rounds through it and shows no signs of throat erosion...

I have personally seen a savage 300 WSM (short mag of course) in a $500 rifle outshoot a 270 WbyMag at 300 yards. and as far as recoil goes the 270 WBY has just as much as any of the 7mm mags except the RUM & STW. And the 300WSM along with the 300Win Mag and the 300 Wby only have 4 more pounds...

hey guys, have any of you seen much difference between the 24" and 26" barrels in this chambering. I found a Tika t3 that has a 24" barrel and my old ruger had a 24" barrel. But I have also seen a fer savage varmints with the 26" bull barrel.
