Well that makes sense, so really I need a bullet comparator to measure such? Or a meplat trimmer/uniformer to get them all the same? IF they were sorted into different lots of the same oal and die was readjusted everytime the lot changed would that not get you some consistency? Sorry, not new to...

Ordered 400 of the nosler 105gr 6mm custom competition bullets and there is drastic inconsistency. Is it common to have to sort all your bullets by length? I grabbed afew of my 168gr vld's and saw the same issue but not nearly as large of a spread. Am I being to critical by sorting them?

Try as much as you can in the selection that you like and let your rifle tell you what it likes the best. There is some quality stuff available these days. I also second the shooting past 100 with the top contenders to ensure they are performing at range.

Only whitetails and recoil isn't a major concern, she will shoot my .300RUM with no brake and no whinning lol. I just know the 06 likes 150s.

Ahhh see, info I didn't have about soft points, yes it is a 308. That savage shoots soft nose exceptionally well. That rifle is stupid accurate in a flimsy factory stock and shoots under 1/2" at qoo with factory stuff.

To keep things simple, is there a decent priced bullet in the 150-168gr range that I can load for both the wife's AR10 and a savage 110 30/06? I would like to keep it at least narrowed down to one bullet that can be ran in both for hunting that is accurate yet a good price point (oxymoron).
