What area in Wyoming is best for DIY Antelope Hunt 2014

I was in your shoes about 2 years ago looking for information on where to hunt antelope in WY. What I can tell you is that the hunting is a blast. You probably won't get very many responses until you do some research and start asking more unit specific questions. A simple search on this site...

Looking for a good public place in Wyoming for a doe antelope

No, there is a separate draw for just the doe/fawn tags. I don't think they are subject to preference points. That's what I'm trying to figure out. I know some units have left over after the draw and those are sold OTC, but there are some units that have no left over tags (usually the units...

Looking for a good public place in Wyoming for a doe antelope

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think the reduced price doe/fawn tags are subject to preference points. Or at least I hope so because I may have just burned up the point I started saving last year!!!

Newbie tryin to research/plan a Wyo Goat hunt with alot of ?s

Many of the guys have already given you good information. I've only been to Wyoming once antelope hunting but I'll give you what I learned: -My party (3 of us) applied for the special drawing with no preference points and we all draw. I knew we wouldnt have a chance without the special tag and...

    22 Cal's legal in WYO

It's good that WY now allows .22 centerfires. I think we're all in agreement that within the limits of reason .22 centerfire rifles are effective on deer sized game and smaller. Definitely a good play on the part of fish and game to put a grain restriction at 60 grains, which eliminates the...

Any of y'all ever done a DIY Antelope hunt in WY?

The draw odds are posted on the WY game and fish website so anyone can access that. It goes back several years so you can see which units typically draw with no or fewer preference points. Make sure you get a GPS and chip....It's basically invaluable.

    2012 Antelope

The WY landscape is second to none. I did my first hunt out there this year and absolutely loved it. I had a GPS and agree that it's invaluable. Two of the 3 antelope our group killed would not have been shot at without the chip. Only one was shot on a large HMA that was easy to tell the...

    My 2010 and 2012 Bucks

Great pictures...thanks for sharing. That second buck is a monster! I did my first WY antelope hunt this year and took a decent 12" buck. I get him back from the taxi in a couple weeks then I'll see what he scores. Being a flat lander with no antelope in my state, I found them surprisingly...

Any of y'all ever done a DIY Antelope hunt in WY?

Since you didn't do any research and ask specific questions before you posted this thread, I'll give you info on where you can find it. Everyone here is very helpful if you do research on your own and ask pointed questions. My first WY trip was this last Oct and several forum members gave me...

How to draw for WY doe-only tags

Thanks, Bob. So if I understand this right I apply for a doe only tag just like a regular tag, then after I draw my tag I can buy up to 2 more over the counter? That would mean a max of 3 doe only tags per person? I assume also that there are no preference points taken into consideration and...

How to draw for WY doe-only tags

Hi Guys: I did a WY antelope hunt this year. All 3 of us in our group put in for special- any antelope tags and drew our units. We all harvested our animals. Now, for next year, another friend would like to go to WY on doe tags. I'm not sure how this works...is that also a draw? Do you...

    DPMS 223 Bull 24"

I had a 16" DPMS Bull (Sweet 16) and it was plenty accurate to 300y or more. Not sure I'd want to tote around an extra 6" on a bull barrel unless you are set up and not hiking around much. These days I prefer a lighter barrel or bolt gun for all the hiking I do. I don't however doubt that...

    A good Wyoming hunt

Great bunch of animals you've got there! Thanks for sharing the pics. I keep seeing all of these harvest photos with .25-06's. I might have to look into one.

    1st mulie worth shooting

Great deer, Cliff. When I was in WY about a month ago it seemed like the Antelope liked being below 7000 ft. If I would have known the big boys were further up the hills, I would have gone after!
