Wish I had the pics but the 208 gr LRX was shot in ballistic gel yesterday at 700 yds 5700' elev in about 35-40 F deg temps from a 300 Norma Mag. Expansion was phenomenal.....gel was a 24" long block and it went through it and into a 2nd block. Temp cavity was about 8"+. Hopefully, i'll get a...

Best FFP scope for the buck?

I've been running 3 of the Athlon Midas Tac's for 2-3 yrs now. Two are the 6-24x50 and the 3rd is the 5-25x56 (34mm tube). Have put them on things as light recoiling as a 22 LR used for NRL22X matches where we dial and shoot out to 500 yds. As heavy recoiling as my LR muzzleloader where i'm...

    Trimming weight off ML

I am about to complete my ML hunting for the year in Utah. I have one of Levi Reed's (LR Custom) wonderful custom 45 cal bore riding conversions for my Rem 700 UML. It is wonderfully accurate, powerful and i'm totally confident out to 600+ yds with it. The issue I have with it; it's a PIG...

    Which 300?

I'm not a newbie. Work in the shooting industry. My last 30 cal was 30-06 then 30-06 AI; 10+ years back. Have harvested numerous elk with several 6.5's and 338's at 810, 820 and 950 yds. Getting older so want a lighter build. Basically, an elk rifle for LR; not ELR. I've been shooting...

    muzzle loader muzzle brake

I have a Rem 700 UML which has been converted to a 45 cal Brux barrel so I can shoot 300 gr Black Max bullets. Getting 2550 fps. The LR Custom brake allows me to free recoil the rifle when I shoot it.....over and over and over.....with any hesitation!

    .257 eldx length ?

In my custom 24" barreled Pre 64 M70 in 257 Roberts (long action) I tested OAL and got a .783" 100 yd group with it seated .080" off the lands using Hybrid 100V, getting 2918 fps. In the Kimber 84M (short action were an OAL of 2.839" just cleared the mag) I got .863" and .816", 3-shot groups...

    Matrix Bullets

I have a decent supply of the 142 gr 6.5mm. I killed a bull elk about 5 yrs back with my light 6.5x47, running 2915 fps @ 950 yds. Quartering too angle penetrated through the vitals. Did not find the bullet as it was dark, cold, snowing and I was by myself, trying to get off the mountain...

    Barnes LRX bullets

Kind of curious about that max distances you hunters have experienced, seen or have first hand knowledge, where any LRX bullet (please list caliber, weight, muzzle/impact velocity) was successful. Success can be defined as a dead animal, pass through, or not, with what appears to be wrecked...

    Lightweight Long Range Rifle

It would be easy enough to build a LW LR rig. The lighter one goes, typically, the more expensive it gets. Here is my 8.2 lb rig in 6.5x57 BR (8x57 necked down with 30 deg blown out shoulder). Think 6.5PRC specs but in a .432" bolt face. Rem 700 LA, trued and lightened. 26" # 3 fluted Hart...

Pushing them to 2800 using Varget in my 6.5x47. Easily killed a 3x4 mule deer at 500 yds and a very large cow elk at 450 yds.
