The folks at Barbourcreek will give you a definitive answer on this. When I took a class with them, it rained hard during the afternoon session on dsy 2, and we kept shooting out to 1,000 yards at clays and golf balls. It was a great experience with them.

Did not know that about 4166. Thats a bummer, especially after they stopped 4320, which I also liked.

In addition to what has already been said, IMR 4166 and Reloder 15 are also decent 308 powders which you might be able to find.

I learned first on a Ruger #1 in 22-250 and right-handed Remington 700 rifles because I could not afford LH models. Over the years, I have acquired 5 LH bolt guns. I shoot LH and RH the same. Learning on a RH bolt gun was not a problem for me. I do however prefer a LH AR.

I take test tubes containing various pre-weighed charges and use a K&M Arbor press and a whidden micrometer seat die. Works just fine.
