Out of a late 60"s Model 700 with a 24" Factory Stainless Steel barrel , I shot them 3080 FPS . Still have the gun .

I used the 180 Pro Hunter for several years in my 300 WM and was very satisfied with its performance on deer . Only negative was damaging the tips of the bullets in the magazine during recoil . Keep hoping Sierra will some day put a plastic tip on their GK and PH series bullets .

I suggest a 25-06 for your long range varmints , Does good in the wind with low recoil not to mention that it hits with authority !

I downloaded my Browning A - Bolt Micro hunter .308 with 125 Nosler Ballistic Tips and it performed great ! My 10 year old got a complete pass through on a medium size doe , Never once complaining about recoil while practicing or on the hunts .
