Yes that would suck! I love it here with all the.BLM and NF to hunt, drawing a tag is the hard part.
it took 3 years to get an Elk tag and then it was my 5th choice. Now that sucked. I still haven't.drawn a Deer tag in four years. So I started traditional bow.hunting last season. I forgot how much fun that was. Didn't get.anything but still had a great time.

Hunting for Elk coyotes bear and cougar and the mighty sagerats, I will do long.range, but deer I'm going to bow hunt for now.
I just started long ranve.shooting. Before I got the Striker my long range was 100 yards with my .44 mag Super Blackhawk hunter. But now that I have.rhe striker I can shoot out to 300 yards and hope to get out to 1000 yards by the end of summer. I don't think I would shoot at critter out that far except coyotes. I have 2 barrels for the striker one in .308win and one in .243 win. I'll use the .308 for elk and the .243 for coyotes.
I started handgun hunting about 15 years ago and got hooked on it. It's a blast to hunt with a handgun. I still use the .44mag if I'm hunting in close quarters like calling in bears. What a thrill that is!

Rupe do you know of any places in x-mas valley that i could take the wife and kids to shoot sage rats. Me and a buddy are headed over saturday to start asking in person but thos may speed things up for us. I would appreciate any words of wisdom as to where to start looking.

I've called a cat in once but I never saw him until he was on his way out of there like a streak. I was so shocked I didn't even think about shooting. I was calling coyotes at the time and cats was the last thing on my mind. One of these days I would like to get one. Have a rug made out of him and hang it on the wall.

Luke, you can try Dinsdale, they welcome sagerat hunters. The have a big barn/shop/office right on one of the 90 degree corners just before you get to the.School if your coming.from Fort Rock. It has the name in big letters on it. That's about the only one that I know of. They even give out maps to the fields they will let you shoot on. He has a bunch of pivots so there isn't any.shortage of places. Just make sure you follow his rules or you might become the hunted instead of the hunter! LOL

Thanks for the info. That is the way I normally come in so that will be convienent. What kind of scope do you use on your Stryker and what kind of groups do they shoot at 100yards. My buddy just bought a Stryker in 243 and have yet to find a load that will shoot under 2-3 inches. Thanks again.

Luke, With my .243 barrel on my Striker I get groups of under 1" at 100 yards with IMR 8208XBR I'm still working on the load and I'm sure I can get it down to under 1/2" with an older Sierra 75gr
HP with .3gr under max loud taken from the Hodgdon load data online site. Like I said I'm still working with the load. My barrel is a take off from a 200 Stevens cut down to 16.5". I have a Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x42 sf mildot redicle Rifle scope. Watch out using a rifle scope you ha e to get your site picture then slowly move your head back to keep from getting bit by the scope. It's weird at first but you get used to it pretty quick. I am hitting a 10" x 13" gong at 300 yds. every shot with a 5 to 10 cross wind. I have a 10" groundhog painted on it and be's been riddled. Have your friend check the.crown and make sure it's not damaged.
Your buddy should be getting way better then 2 to 3". Stikers (not stryker) shoot very good normally. I'm using a bipod and a sand bag in the rear off a bench. My trigger has been lightened and smoothed just a little. Even with my .308 barrel I was shooting moa using both Varget and 8208xbr. I still pretty new with the Striker myself but everyone that shoots them alot are getting good tight groups with them.. Have him try the Imr8208XBR and see what he thinks. Let me know how it works for him. Hope this all helps him. I love my striker! I KNOW it can shoot better then I can. LOL If you get out by the dunes stop in for coffee. I can pm you my ph.# and directions to my place.

I am sure we will go out by the dunes at some poiny because that is one of our favorite spots to shoot jackrabbits. Thanks for the info on the striker. His has the adjustable muzzle break on it so I cant imagine the crown being bad but it is hard to say for sure. How is the rabbit numbers over there this year.
