Redheads & Canvasbacks

I live in the Mid West. Where is the best place to shoot Redheads and Can's at the same time of yr? Also pintails would be a real plus. Have shoot alot of Mallards but never got any of the above. thanks for any info.

i would say arkansas i live in southern lndiana and rarly see redheards or canvasbacks.

see pintails a little more but still not alot

mostly its mallards,gadwalls, woodducks, teal, and wigeons

Reds and Cans like big water or lots of ponds. Down in Mississippi we shoot them over catfish ponds or on the river. Also in big reservoirs. Not tons of them but a few scattered around. Pintail seem to like fields.

It is funny how small variance can change which birds are prevalent. In Shreveport we shot our weight in Widgeon. Moved 200 miles to mississippi and hunted in similar environs and suddenly the widgeon became a rarity.

South Texas that all we shoot i have never even seen a mallard.

North of Lansing IA on the River. In the Fall it holds 300,000 Canvasbacks.
