Got my first 80lb bow this year in the form of a revolt x80. Really was loving it until yesterday when one of the limbs decided to fail at full draw. Not super catastrophic or anything but I'm now questioning whether or not I want to keep this bow. Looking for experiences with 80lb bowtechs as well as with other brands in the 80lb+ category.

As a side note, my buddy's matthews v3x got some splintering in 2 of its limbs earlier this week and we've both been leaving or bows in our trucks during the week. This has us thinking that the Arizona heat is the culprit. 100°+ weather is even worse inside a vehicle.
I'm sure some of you will say there's no need to shoot a bow above 70lbs and that's true but I want to go fast. Arrow weight was 465grns so well above 5grns per lb.

Yeah. Delaminating from heat is common. Heat ruins other things too on the bow. There's a few post a year on archery talk regarding such.
Here's a post from 2012 for example. There's been many more. https://www.archerytalk.com/threads/how-long-can-you-leave-your-bow-in-a-hot-car.1759715/

If you liked the bowtech, I would just put in to replace the limbs, and keep it…this time take what you learned and put the bow in some type of temperature controlled space when it's not in use.

I don't condone abusing warranties, however, none of the Bowtechs I personally have say anything in the manual or warranty about delamination due to heat…so maybe talk to your local Bowtech dealer and see what they can do…

That's a bummer.Yes im guessing your heat had something to do with it. Ive had a failure and stood next to one my BIL had that put a golf ball size hemotba on his wrist. My bow was a old browning wood limb and well beyond max.I hunted with a pro shop owner and solid limbs had a much larger failure rate according to him.Have me bit nervous as I just got a v3x33 last winter

This was the consensus on rokslide as well, it's currently at the shop and they're going to call bowtech on Tuesday. We'll see what bowtech has to say about it. I'd be very happy if they were just willing to replace the limbs and I pay for labor. I went to school with the son of the local shop owner and they take good care of me.

I had a cheap diamond bow blow up on me when I was younger, the string peg on the cam just sheared off when I took a shot.
