You'll be able to tell a difference shooting with a suppressor as well. Brakes are fine, but it's a much more enjoyable experience when you take the concussive shot away.

Different strokes for different folks - I really enjoy suppressors, especially when shooting sub sonic ammo. My 300 BLK is way too much fun with 220 gr subs.
 
I had a herd of pronghorn run from a rifle shot they heard 2+ miles away. The same herd stood there looking around after I shot their buddy from 460 yards with my suppressed 6CM.

Another HUGE benefit of a suppressor is other HUNTERS not hearing your shot and figuring out where you are located. I have had people 200-400 yards behind me not hear my shots.

Supersonic rounds still have that crack, but mine are all hearing safe. I shoot suppressed a lot, and have gone to 80% of my rifles running a can now.
 
I'm new at the suppressor game. Only had mine now for 2 weeks. But man, I'm a huge fan. They reduce recoil like a brake and I felt comfortable shooting my 25SST without hearing pro. Braked I needed double hearing protection with it and the 22" barrel. It's hard to explain but it felt/sounded like it sent the noise down range in front of the shooter instead out out and back like a brake. I shot it with muffs the first couple shots but removed them after I barely heard it and felt no cuncussion.

I made the mistake of shooting my braked 300 WSM one time without hearing pro because I got caught up in the moment and it caused documented permanent hearing damage in left ear. Not going to be the case with the suppressor if I get caught up again!

As far as " hearing safe" goes--- technically osha considers anything over 85 dB as requiring hearing protection. I havent seen a suppressor that shoots supersonic rounds under 85 dB yet.

Pleasant is the word I would use, it makes shooting more pleasant. I still wear hearing protection as my hearing is already messed up and I don't want it to get any worse, but the rifle is more pleasant to shoot with the can. Less recoil, less muzzle blast, etc. It's to the point where I don't like shooting rifles without it. Works great for new or recoil shy shooters too. Once the muzzle blast is gone, everything is less scary. I shoot better with one too.

I have a 16" Ar-10. Without a can its downright unpleasant for me to shoot. With a can its not bad at all. YMMV, but I'm never going back. If anything, you'll end up with more than one before too long.

He kept pushing this Atomik ammunition and he didnt even notice that I had a can of IMR 4895 in my hand and he would have noticed that I reloaded my own stuff. He had no idea what a Swift even was and when I told him it would shoot 4000 fps he all but called me a liar and laughed so I just walked out. He kept trying to push a supressor made by Texas supressors as being the gold standard of supressors. Anyway all 3 of my varmint guns have heavy barrels so they will thread easily. My question is how much noise reduction can I expect from a supressor if I am shooting coyotes down here and want to be quiet about it will one really help me.

I hate suppressors. The extra weight. The extra length. The cost. The recoil reduction. The ability To shoot one coyote at 100 yards with another standing beside you at 80 yards and not move Till he drops vertically. The ability to use it on multiple rifles. The fact that after having a sever head injury and being extremely sensitive to blast concussion I can comfortably shoot anytime without issue Or hearing protection. Being able to shoot critter after critter without them busting out of the country. I could go on and on about how much I hate suppressors but I'm tired from chasing coyotes on deep crunchy snow today. That **** suppressor didn't scare them but the chubby hunter sneaking on crunchy snow sure did🤣😂

The Silencerco Harvester is what I shoot and like it so much I'm ordering another. I own four different cans, have shot several of my brother's (betweeen us we have pledged to buy one a year) and friends' suppressors on my 6 Creed and found this model to be my favorite, in sound reduction, recoil reduction and price.
I plan to buy another soon in order to have it by next hunting season and would not hesitate to recommend to a friend.
The wait is long, but if you don't put your money down and get your paperwork done you still won't have one next year.
 
This thread got me thinking…about how i really do need to start remembering earplugs. The last 3 or four times I've shot I've spent quite a few rounds with my braked .300 winny, my .257 wby, my .358 Norma, and my 14 inch barreled 12 guage. I always forget my dang plugs so I'm "all ears". Im 31 but have actually started to notice my hearing isn't what it was when I was 18. Maybe time to smarten up here. Too many guns with no plugs and too much death metal/other "extreme" metal as loud as it can go haha
