338 RUM, Edge or Lapua?

I have 2 338 NM.If I was to do one know it would be a 338 LAI ,DE,bullpup,+P,if I could get it 8#.Dont think they can make that light

Those sound pretty abusive! I not interested in ultralight for cartridge mules
Keep in mind if you make the rifle light then you can add weight in areas you want. I spent a good amount on everything titanium and I mean everything and added the weight in bipod, stock, scope, can, and camera. Easier to add then take off.
As for caliber I would do a lapua improved because why not. As stated savage lrh and can be restocked. I have one of those and a ba both reamed for the improved like them both I put a salmon River slab brake and they are very nice to shoot.

I'm a Lapua fan and I happen to prefer the 12 pound range for bigger calibers. A Lapua with a steel barrel and stock of your choosing would be my choice.

Stiller. These are the same one's Shawn Carlock used before he developed his own brand of actions. All 3 of my custom hunting rifles have the same action.

Thanks all for your input. So it seems like the majority concensus is a RUM, Edge, NM, 340... in the 10 - 12 lb range scoped. A Lapua will likely cost and weigh more. If I just shot targets or hunted close to the truck I might lean towards the Lapua.

I've been looking into building a long range boomer. I'm pretty much decided on a 338. Will use for deer, elk and Bear. Seems like most RUMs or Edges are in the 10 to 12lb range but looks like most Lapuas are in the 15lb+ range. I want a quality, accurate and shootable rifle with muzzle brake. I'm not that concerned with ammo or component availability because the rifle will probably take a year or more to have built. That said there's a lot of Lapua stuff available now. Would you go with a bigger, heavier Lapua given about the same ballistics performance? What should my minimum weight target be for a Shootable RUM or edge? Thanks for your input?
A buddy of mine has an edge ,but a friend of his has a standard 338 RUM tight chamber rig and hes out stepping the edge with less powder .

Let us know what you end up with !
It's tough with all the choices for sure !!
If you have a 300 Rum already then it's a no brainer you would pick the Edge because of the brass you have .
It looks like brass is available for all thr choices we have discussed. The 338 Edge cost the most when it comes to dies. My first factory 338 rum I found a set of hornady dies for $30.00 . It produced a 5 shot group we all look for !
My buddy razzed me on the last shot ! Yup I pulled it just a touch ! Ha ha

For me, the 338 RUM, because that's what I have and shoot. A fully custom CA.. most accurate custom I own. Been shooting it for many years. It's my elk thumper, and anything else I point it at! With the calibers mentioned you really can't go wrong! Good luck!
