Custom 22-243

I guess now I'd like to know if you can chamber and safely fire a 22-250 cartridge in this rifle. That would make it far more appealing.

Then you should be able to chamber and fire a standard 22-250 or a 22-250ai cartridge in this rifle.

22-250 is not a necked down .308! it is a necked down .250 Savage. The .243 case is larger than a 22-250 case....

Tony.
You can neck down a .308 case to make a 22-250 cartridge. A 243 case is a necked down .308 case.

I'm not positive about the clambering of this rifle, but those are facts.

I've been doing some reading, and I see that there are at least 2 different wildcat clamberings for the 22-243. I'll have to read some more before I'll understand the difference. I've honestly never heard of a 22-243 until this post..

You are absolutely wrong, and posting false information! set the two side by side and see the obvious! yes, the .243 is a necked down .308, but the 22-250 is not a necked down .243 or .308!

Like I said, the 22-250 is a necked down .250 Savage case. TOTALLY DIFFERENT CASE!
There's some confusion regarding the date of origin of the .22-250, which is based on the .250-3000 Savage case necked to .22 caliber. Its moniker is derived from the caliber (.22) and the "parent" case name (.250). The parent cartridge was introduced in 1915, and a .22 version might have been made up experimentally shortly thereafter.

I didn't say the .308 is the parent case of the 22-250, but I'm not giving out any false information. I can quickly turn .308 cases into 22-250 cartridges. Look into it.

Thank you from someone who knows what the hell they are talking about! yes, with some work, you may be able to "reform" .243 brass to make 22-250 brass, but that would be stupid. It's not a single "neck down" like you are saying....
