Should I move to a 7SAUM?

Good question. I suppose it would help if we new what you wanted to do with it. The other thing is do you have a place to buy reloading components or loaded ammo? Last I heard was that Copper Creek has loaded ammo, but not cheap.
I've had a 7 SAUM for maybe 10 yrs? I use a 180 gr Berger VLD at about 2900 fps. That combo kills very well and has given me good accuracy. I'm using Rem brass with RL-26. More info would help with opinions on whether you would benefit from switching.

I was looking for options and what benefits I might get from the caliber. I have a 28 Nosler that gives me similar results as you mentioned, the 180's at 3000 fps.
Is the 7 SAUM a barrel burner?

You might look at the Sherman Max or Mega depending on how much you're looking for, it has some of the good qualities of the WSM and SAUM and refined them even more. Lots of info on this forum as well.

7saum. Have 5 of them. 180's at 2950', 175's at 3,000' even one shooting 195's at 2890'. Hits hard great elk round. Believe so much in it I have several I built. Latest one below

Your really won't gain anything going from 300 WSM to 7saum. Barrel life and down range ballistic will be close Enough it's a wash. Having said that you want loose anything going to a Saum. I think it is the perfect balance cartridge meaning still fun to shoot, good barrel life and plenty of for 1k hunting. I like them better than the 300 WSM but that's just me

I just went down this road and built a 7WSM. New Hornady brass is excellent as long as you spend the time and prep it. Used a 8.25 twist proof and plan on running the 180 Hybrid and 162 ELDX. Just finished break in and am very impressed so far. Action is Gunwerks GRB. I'm now finishing up my 300WSM big brother build. Lots of factory ammo choices for both also.
