REM 700P & VS

Can any one who owns a newer Remington 700VS tell me if the metal has the same matte finish as the 700P or is it blued?

Does the VS still come with a H.S. stock similar to the 700P?

I'm trying to deside if it is worth paying an extra $80 for the 700P and its wide fore end. I Will be shooting from 100-600 yards. Not sure yet if I will use a bipod or bag.

I have just ordered a 700 VS .308. The finish I believe is the same as the PSS, black matte, and the stock is a HS, I believe. They are "basically" the same rifle,with the PSS stock is a litle differant.

...pretty sure the pss does not have the "j-lock" shroud and also has two swivel studs in the forend... might make a difference to you between these two choices... jmo
