If anyone owns or has handled one of weatherbys new actions or a complete rifle I would be Interested in hearing your thoughts on the quality of said action. I have been unable to put hands on one myself! Thanks for your comments

Disappointing to hear 😩 I'm rooting for Weatherby. Great to offer a good number of non Weatherby cartridges but must have the product!
I'd say you need to handle one your self.
I just did not care for it. I am spoiled with the fleet I'm running right now so I have a little higher expectations when I pick up a rifle.

I've just held the bergara squared crest and those are a sweet rig. I'd take one of those before the 307.

Howdy, I picked up the 243/ 7.5twt from my LGS. I will start out by saying for the ones of us that are Mark V Weatherby fans. When the Vanguard came out, I had a hard time excepting it. Eventually I handle it and bought one. It took some getting used to it but I have 4 of them now. The same thing for the Model 307.
When I first seen it the WOW FACTOR was not what I was hoping for. It is different.
I got it home and took it all apart like I do with all rifles I buy. The action is nice, it operates smooth enough. You can cycle the bolt with the safety on,I like, the mag box length 2.795, ok, Magpul S 7.62x51.
I can guess that aftermarket stocks and mag boxes will be available. The factory stock is ok, stiff enough, has visible features that work, just have to get used to it. Shooting it, it does shoot pretty good, last 3 shots after site in was good..6 moa at 100yrd using old factory Federal 100gr Power Shok. Trigger is ok can be adjusted or changed, Rem type.
Conclusion is, it's different, first impression will vary from person to person. I can see some hating it and others liking it. The action is nice for the price to buy just the action. IMO
Given a chance I hope to try reloads, looking at 110 A- tips, that's what I am using in my 240 7.5twt Mark V.
Hope this helps. 👍

That's looking pretty good sir how many shots on it when you shot the group? The nice thing is they designed these to use the thousands of Remington 700 aftermarket parts available! Every thing but bases. bases are savage/Stiller fits ! Tell us about the.240 wby please.

That was 10 shots total, 7 to get the scope dialed in, the last 3 at the bottom of the target. No cool down time.
The old 240 Bee, got it back in the mid 90.
Mark V- 6 lug came with a 24" 10twt.
Shot hundreds of groundhog and a lot of whitetail. This past spring I got a Kieger with 7.5twt, 31" blank. Had a gunsmith chamber it with. 170 freebore and cut at 28" ,had diamond flute done , area 419 muzzle brake, trigger was reworked different springs set at 1lb. My daughter and I have been playing with it out to 1000yds. It will clover leaf 5 shots, with my daughter shooting, 1.5" at 300yds. 🤓 Still tuning the loads.

Wow that's mighty good

I have the same model/caliber that K.E.C. has.

I live about 3 hours from the WBY factory in Sheridan and drove over the Big Horns Mountains a couple of months back to handle the Range XP and the MDT models.

After extensive coon-fingering (Have you ever watched a raccoon wash his food before he eats it? It is NOT a racist term. 😝 My fingerprints were all over that gun.) I decided on the Range XP model.

The MDT stocked Alpine one was nice, but not required for my needs. I ordered through a dealer friend of mine and sat down to wait.

I was concerned about finding a scope mount that would fit because the rifle is so new. I found the Peak44 scope mount at Battlehawk Armory in Montana and had it in hand before the rifle arrived. I also ordered some MagPul ten round AICS compatible mags for the 307. Wolves run in packs up here.

Weeks later I drove to my dealer and picked up my new 307 Range XP.

Once home, I bore scoped (Teslong) the unfired by me barrel and was astounded at the amount of copper fouling present. I torque wrenched all action and scope screws.

I cleaned and cleaned the bore some more until the copper fouling had been mostly removed.

I started with a Vortex 5-25x56 Venom with MOA adjustments and reticle in Badger 34mm low rings. I robbed that scope/mount off of a Ruger Precision Rimfire rifle in .22 LR until a new Leupold came in.

I had adjusted the Trigger Tech trigger from 4 pounds down to its low setting of 2.5 pounds. That is as low as the TT Field trigger will adjust. I like 2 pound triggers on my calling rifles. It should be a easy to switch out and throw the Field trigger on a Remington actioned rifle.

The Range XP MDT stock has aluminum pillars but no "bedding block" for the action. That makes no difference to me.

I was cobbled together some hand-loads with 6mm Berger 108 VLD Hunters and Hornady 108 ELDM over varying loads of IMR-7828 SSC for the first range outing.

The scope was the limiting factor. Terrible resolution at 102 yards. Focus/parallax adjustment made no difference. Shot for groups prone from a bipod.

It was no use. I couldn't make out bullet holes on paper with the Venom. Hard to see POI vs POA. I was really disappointed.
My NightForce spotting scope had no problem resolving the impacts.

Back at my shop I cleaned and bore-scoped the rifle and was astounded to see that ALL the copper fouling was GONE.

Later, I went out again with H4350 and the same bullets, but a smaller sample. Same result. Couldn't resolve/see bullet impact with the Venom. I am not happy with the results.

Finally I fired two five shot groups at the same POA with 58 grain VMax and 85 TSX loads that are PROVEN sub MOA in my 1999 vintage WBY Accumark Ultra Lightweight 10 twist .243 rifle. A Coyote load and an Antelope load. I figured with an almost 800 fps velocity difference I should be able to tell the POI of of them apart.

I should have shot those 10 rounds at a two separate aiming points of five rounds each. Result: two five round groups overlapping each other @ two inches above POA.

An inch sized 10 round group. 🙄 I can't tell which is which between the Hornady and Barnes impacts. You guys have any suggestions?

Since that day my VX-5HD 3-15X44 CDS-ZL2 SIDE FOCUS HTMR Part # 178027 has arrived and been installed in NightForce Low Ultralite rings (A118).

I loaded some 70 grain Nosler BTs with several varying (.3 per 5 rounds) grains of Varget, .030" off the lands today and will head out to shoot groups after zeroing the Leupold. I do report that the Leupold has great glass and I anticipate great results.

Stand by for the report.

PS: With the near vertical grip of the 307, it doesn't feel anything like my Accumark Ultra Lightweight and cheeks a bit different, but I think it is going to be a fine replacement for the ULW which is destined to be rebarreled to .338-06 A-Square for Black Bears.

Let us know when you get the new scope working!

It is zeroed now with the Leupold. Here is a sample target with Hornady 58 VMax at ~3800 fps.
I'm going to play with seating depth a bit to see if I can tighten it up.
I'm still getting used to the trigger on it.

I REALLY LIKE THIS SCOPE.
