Another forum member offered to provide the bullets if I would provide some load workup results. I'm going to post the results here for anyone else who may be interested.

I'll moly-coating them, and will be loading RL-17 and 4000-MR.

I'm going to ladder up to pressure over the chrono, then select a charge to shoot for accuracy, and long range drop data.

I'll update this thread as I progress.

Here's a pic of the 190gr ABLR in a lineup with some other popular .308" LR bullets I have on the bench.

I'm looking forward to the results. I want to see how fast the RL 17 will shove them..

Well, I'm getting over 2700 fps with RL-17 and moly'd 208 Amax (22.5" bbl).

Given the lower weight and shorter bearing surface of the 190 ABLR, I kind of expect 2800+ fps without obvious pressure signs.

The 190 ABLR has a thicker jacket, and that may affect things too.

I've got rounds loaded to send over the chrono tomorrow.

Looking forward to this as well. Hoping to use this bullet with norma MRP, which I understand is basically RL22, H4831 or H4350.

I couldn't get the 277 150gr's to group in my 270win but would like to use the 190's in my soon-to-be-completed 30-06.

I'm getting killer groups out of mine with 54 grains of re17 in fed brass. I could say the distance from the lands but they were much more finicky in that respect than other bullets in the same rifle

Anyone have any results shooting these out of a 300 wsm. Looking to try some as soon as I can get my hands on some.

Today I put some rounds over the chrono, into a 100-yard target. I fired two rounds of each load increment. Not enough to qualify accuracy, but I wanted to have a second round in case of a chrono error. I put the rounds on paper and will include the 'group' size.

The purpose of this session was primarily to check velocity, and look for signs of excess pressure. I will do further accuracy/BC analysis on a selected load.

I normally shoot from the ground with a bipod. To accomodate a chronograph, I set up on a table, with a BR front rest, and sand filled rear bag. I set the chronograph out 5 yards/15 feet. Target was at 100 yards, lasered.

Rifle is a Rem 700, 22.5" Douglas #7, 1/10 stainless bbl, McMillan A2, SWFA 12X, Badger Ordnance mounts/brake, knob, lug, floorplate.

Conditions: 4300 ft ASL, 40F, near calm winds.

First two rounds were with my standard load to check velocity and accuracy as a baseline.
Moly'd 208 AMax
55gr RL-17
2740 fps.

2724/2738 fps .31" (centered. First round was a little slower due to cold/clean bore.)

Next I fired a ladder of moly'd 190 ABLR over RL-17. Bullets were seated 20/thou" off the lands. Here's the results,

Moly'd 190 ABLR
Win brass
CCI 200
.020" off lands
22.5" bbl

Reloder-17
56.0 gr - 2865/2864 fps, .58"
57.0 gr - 2924/2912 fps, .40" (primers looked good)
58.0 gr - 2946/2949 fps, .59" (primers looked good, slight ejector mark)
59.0 gr - no shoot
60.0 gr - no shoot

4000-MR
jammed in lands (compressed loads grew a bit with moly lube)
61.0 - 2840/2822 fps, .87"
62.0 - 2890/2862 fps, .73"
63.0 - 2925/2938 fps, .26" (brass/primer looked ok, but didn't try to press 64.0 gr in the case)

Next I am going to load up some rounds with 57.0 gr RL-17, and check long range accuracy/drops. See if we can evaluate BC.

Nice work Shane,
I'm impressed with the velocities you are getting with Moly.
Have you noticed any negative effects long term using moly?
Thanks for sharing.
Looking forward to the BC and drop data..

That's good to know I'm seriously considering it after following your post.
So.... after all of your testing of bullets in the 30-06, what would be your go to bullet so far that has give you the best performance in long range accuracy?

My go-to bullet for several years now has been the 208 Amax.

I believe the 215 gr Berger would be optimum, but I prefer the economy of the 208 Amax.

In local atmo, the 208 shoots very well out to 1500 or so yards, started at 2740 fps. I have taken it to a mile+ on occasion, but it's kind of losing it at those distances.

I believe that a moly'd 215 Berger could make 2800 fps in a 26" barrel. That would be serious LR capability in a 30-06 chamber.
