At the range today I noticed guys sighting in at 200 and 300 yards. The question I have is the 100 yd targets are across level ground. The 200 yd targets would be up the hill aprox. 20' higher than the 100 yd targets. The 300 yd targets would be aprox 35'-40' higher up the hill than the 100 yd target. This continues out several hundred yds but always UP the hill side.

After a short dissucsion I was "assured" the guns in questions would be sited in at 200, 300 ect. yds properly.

My thought would be that siting in at 200 or 300 yds would need to be across level ground to be truly sited in properly.

Am I missing something?

Your reasoning is correct, but by my math you are only talking about a 2-2.5 degree angle. That is an elevation error of less than .1% I believe. Not enough to cause concern.

Someone please correct me if my math is off.
