My outfitter friend from Alaska called to catch me up on his spring bear season and he had a funny story (not funny for the guy involved /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif).
Seems he had a brown bear hunter who wanted to use a very large revolver, as in the relatively new .500 S&W. They saw a great bear moving in a certain direction that would probably put him on a very good bear trail. They got situated near the bear trail and waited. Hunter is sitting, pistol rested on his knees. Some time later the bear shows - comes slowly down the bear trail. Gets in to 40 paces which is about optimum, keeps wandering down the trail. Guide cannot figure why no shot. Turns out the hunter fell asleep and slept through the entire opportunity! You win some and you lose some /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
