So I've gotten into using my AR for yote hunting since it's nice and light and accurate. I've got a 16" 1-8 twist Wilson Combat barrel on it and I've been running Barnes vortex ammo with 70gr tsx bullets. They are pretty accurate like .75 MOA but they are far from a fur saver bullet. Also they are slow. I've been zeroing for 100 yards and killing dogs between 50 and 300 yards. Yesterday morning I shot one at about 175 and i but the crosshairs on its back and shot it through the heart.
I'm thinking something speedier for ranges out to 300 maybe 400 yards. And hopefully something that doesn't leave the big exit hole of the Barnes. I'm open to factory or handload options. Maybe 40gr bullets or is that to light?
