It is too short for me to get my wanted OAL....So I might still use that brass to design something else I have in mind.
Thanks for the tip Mark!
Too short ? It's longer than the 270 Win, if anything it's too long. I'll be using it for a couple of projects
Too short for a beltless STW clone, is what I was referring to.
Why is it too short? If you blow it out it will be the same as an STW
STW brass length is 2.850"...It's ~1/4" longer than .300 WM brass. Unless that brass can grow like 0.300" when you neck it down, I don't see it working.
It's fatter, if you blow the shoulder up and out, it will have the same capacity as the STW
We're on the same pattern, but different wavelengths...
You're talking about mirroring performance, and I'm talking about mirroring in physical traits (height, length, width, etc) an AI'd STW that is beltless, so all I have to do is ream an STW chamber with the new reamer and use STW neck-sizer dies.
Basically I want a 40* shouldered, improved AI, beltless STW.
I need to know which beltless parent case I can use for forming to mimic the 2.850" case OAL, since everyone says the parent cases I mentioned were too thick to form...
