I am in the process of building a 6.5 prc and looking for experience with bullets. Trying to decide between the 143 eldx, 140 Berger elite hunter and the 140 accubond. Looking for best hunting performance on deer and elk to 600.

I'd throw the 147 ELDM in the mix. Ive had good luck with it as have some of my clients.

Shot a bull this past fall with 6.5SAUM and 140 VLDH. Dropped him with two shots at 367 yards. Bullets trashed the lungs as I expected. No need for me to change.

I'd be really careful on an elk shoulder with that bullet unless he's out there quite a distance.

Midway has the 142 ABLR as limited run and out of stock. Is Nosler still making them?

No elk , but I've taken many deer with the 140 VLD with excellent results.

At the speeds that the prc can run and for mainly under 300y hunting I would go with the regular 140 accubond, or the 127lrx. If you know you are going to be 500+ then I would go 147/143 eld or LRAB. From the bit of shooting into my bullet box at 100y the eld and lrab fragment heavily.

I had really good success on all game with 140 VLD in my 6.5 284 and in my 6.5 Sherman. The 135 classic hunters in my sons 6.5 CM worked really well on cow elk and MD.
I even had a 400 yard shot on a bull Moose using my 6.5 Sherman with 140 vld and he reared up and fell over.

Rich when I asked you about heavier 6.5 bullets for my Sherman you told me the best was a 250 Berger from a 338SS. Lol.

I have tried the 142 NABLR in probably 15 different 6.5s. From the 6.5 CM, .260 Rem, 6.5SLR, 6.5x55, 6.5-.284 Norma, 6.5SS, 6.5 SAUM, 6.5-06AI, and .264WM. Nothing has shot them what I would consider well. I now use the remaining box for fire forming brass. That is about all they are good for in my opinion.

We have used 140 HVLDs for numerous game animals. From coyotes to big mulies. Plenty of guys I know have used them on elk and black bear too.

The 140 NAB would be my 2nd choice. They always shoot well.

The 143 ELD-X are good, as long as you can get them to shoot. I am only about 33% on them for rifles that shoot them amazingly. The other 67% were just OK.
