Badlands Bulldozer 150 or a Barnes in the 130-150 TTSX should work.
+1 165 Sierria Game king and for paper or Steel 168 Sierria Match King. One bullet I would recommend for deer sized game is the 165 Sierria Game king or 165 Nosler Ballistic Tip. For paper or Steel 168 Sierria Match King.
Ditto 165 Sierra Tipped Game King (Gamechanger). Great bullet, higher BC than many others. Great on game and long-range performance. One bullet I would recommend for deer sized game is the 165 Sierria Game king or 165 Nosler Ballistic Tip. For paper or Steel 168 Sierria Match King.
Exactly what I run in an AR10.... it especially likes the Sierra 168 MK's.One bullet I would recommend for deer sized game is the 165 Sierria Game king or 165 Nosler Ballistic Tip. For paper or Steel 168 Sierria Match King.
Same bullet, 24" barrel 1-10 twist using 46 gns of Reloder 17, coal 2.98" gets me 2600fps with mild pressure signs at an elevation of 2100 feet. I have taken deer out to 750 yards on calm days and hit 6" steel at 1000 yards quite easily … flight time is over 1 sec so gusty windy days are very challengingFor hunting with a 1:9, go heavy. I had a nice load for my 308 using 200grn ELD-X running 2350 out of an 18" barrel. I was using IMR4064. Hits 1000yds was not difficult. I was building this for an elk load.
I would add the 130 TTSX to this list. Lower BC of course, but turns the 308 into a laser out to 300 yards... which for most in the "deer woods" is the equivalent of a 1K yard cross canyon shot. Lol150/168 ttsx
I just finished building 2 different 308 rifles. One loves the Barnes 137grn TTSX running at 3125fps. great deer and hog round. The other is running Hammer Hunters 174grn at 2945fps. Dropped a bear last month without a problem. Funny I have built and worked with many different rounds and settled back to the 308. Have fun.I just acquired a custom built .308 with a Defiant action with a 20" 1:9 twist barrel. I know the common twist rate for a 308 is generally 1:10. I'm gonna use this gun for whitetail deer and hogs. I have a suppressor that I will run sometimes. What bullet recommendations do ya'll suggest? I have a few boxes of Remington 150 gr core-lokt tipped. I would also like to see how far I could stretch it out on some target shooting.
How fast is that 208 moving at 950?I like heavy bullets for distance and hunting. I shoot a 208 Hornady in my .308 with Reloader 17. It has been consistent to 950 yards and I have taken deer, antelope and elk with it.
