hey guys, new to the forums... i am in the process of a rifle build.. 7mm wsm kreiger barell with 1:9 or 1:9.5 twist (i dont remember exactly) anyway.. i cant seem to find any info on 180 gr berger vld's loaded with RL-17... anyone have a recipie their running and what kind of velocities you're getting..
thanks.

That is probably because RL 17 is WAY to fast a powder in the cartridge/bullet combo. I am using RL 25 in my 7mm WSM with 180gr bullets.
Go with the 1-9 twist.

You can use RL17, but there may be better choices. You will only get about an 84% case fill with this powder. I use RL17 with a 130 grain E-Tip in my 270 WSM, and it works fine. You will get better performance from RL19 or RL22, I suspect. You'll get slightly more velocity, better case fill and a better pressure profile.
