338 A square brass

????? HUH??...a 338 A Sq ( or also know as 338-06) is a 338 caliber BASED ON a 30-06 CASING..?? If you have a 338 caliber based on a 378 casing...then you DONT HAVE a 338-06??

338 A square magnum cases could made out of 338-378 cases Im pretty sure .
Then A square developed there newer case the 338 Excalibur a bigger case with no belt.

I see that THERE IS a cartridge made up with a 378 Weatherby casing....but it is called a 338-378 cartridge..NOT a 338-06

Thanks for the replies... but... i never said i have a 338-06. I have a 338 a square and the parent brass is the 378 weatherby. And no its not the 338/378 weatherby.

And what CALIBER is it then? You are talking about a cartridge made by the A-Square company lots difference evidently that the cartride referred to as a 338A Square wich IS a 338-06.

It's a 338 a square. It was developed long before the 338-3006. Art Alphin the founder of a square developed it even before there was a 338-378 weatherby. It's a 378 weatherby case with a tapered shoulder and necked down to 338 , not the weatherby radius.

Since it says the company of A Square went under in 2012....you'll have to make these odball casings from th mother ship...which I think..??...is the 416 rigby...and size them / neck them down

There is a few brass companies that make them but no one has any stock. I may end up rechambered

FALSE-A-MUNDO! A 375 case....sure...but not a 378 case!
Do a search on it this is what you will find........RIGHT- A - MUNDO....

The .338 A-Square is based on a necked-down .378 Weatherby belted magnum case with a conventional (not double radius) shoulder angle of 35 degrees and a cartridge overall length (COL) of 3.67". The .338 Excaliber is based on a standard (not belted) rimless bottleneck case with the same rim diameter as the .378 Weatherby, but slightly greater powder capacity than the .338 A-Square or .338-378 Weatherby. The COL of the .338 Excaliber is 3.75".
