Looking to load up some 180gr bullets for my 33 Nosler for an Elk gun this late fall. Any of u guys load up 180's u love and prefer over others. Got AccBnds right now and some Barnes 185 TTSX's. Looking for some input on what u fellas like and shoot.

The 180 Accubond in my .338 RUM is devastating at 3550.

Looking forward to trying similar weight Hammer.

Not really a meat hunter, but smaller deer, and antelope makes a hell of a mess to deal with. Great chuck bullet though.

The 180 would not be my preference on elk. I was pushing the 225 NAB out of my .338 WM (78.6g H2O) at 2850 FPS out of 24" barrel, IIRC. Your 33N (88.3g H2O) should give more oomph. Good luck and happy safe elk hunting.

I had a .338 WSM in a short barreled (21.5") hunting chassis.

Barnes 185 gr. TTSX over Re-17. Terrific in deep woods for carry and comfort.

:)

This stubby barrel was good for 3,000 fps at the muzzle which yields 1,600 ft/lbs at 500 yards. This was more than sufficient for the two elk I killed with this rifle. Heart shots on both. Proper placement with the proper bullet construction and energy at the target will net the game you're pursuing.

😊
