Good morning and Merry Christmas to all. As I sit here waiting for the kids and grand kids to arrive I was just wondering if anyone knows of a 7 mm round that will #1 feed as a repeater through with a maximum COAL of 3.3" or less. #2 achieve a muzzle velocity of 3,300 fps from a 26" or 27" barrel (nitride treatment?) with a 168 grain Berger VLD. What are your thoughts and experience?

Thanks All and Merry Christmas again.

John

Curious why the need to go 3300fps, I have a 7mm with 26" barrel and it is right on 3000, (2985) and have found no reason to try for more. It is to accurate to mess with:D I guess I would suggest a 7stw?

John,

Merry Christmas. Curious why the max COAL of 3.3... what action are you using?

I think the 300 Norma necked down is probably your best bet. Also, I would go with the 180 hybrid for better terminal performance at those velocities if this is a hunting load. RL33 should get the 180 well over 3200 fps out of a necked down 300 Norma.

I had not thought of the 300 Norma necked down to 7mm. I used 3.30" to be well below the Savage 110 staggered feed magazine length max which is just over 3.40". I'll do some research on the Norma. Thank you very much and Merry Christmas again.

Jared Joplin of American Precision Arms has run 162 AMAX's over 3400 fps in my 7 xr. Which is a 300 Norma Mag necked to 7 mm with along neck. I don't know what length barrel he used. Maybe a call to him would provide more answers.

im getting velocitys in the 3400 range with my 7x300 weatherby using
162 hornadys. its built on a bdl 700 action and i seat the bullets to fit the factory magazine. it holds 2 in the magazine plus 1 in the chamber. my son has an adl 700 action and his holds 3 in the magazine. accuracy hasent suffered as a result of the seating depth.

should be able to get there with a 7mm-300win. I load a 180gr to 3150 a 165
should easily do 3,300

Jared was getting over 3500 fps but had to slow them down so they would all stay together.

the 7x300 or 7x300wby both would do it but not at the specified 3.300" length.

looks like the 300 norma is going to be too long also at a 3.600 length

its looking like it would have to be the 7mm-375 ruger (7mm LRM) at a 3.340 staying just under the 3.400 mag length

The 300 Norma Mag would be almost perfect for length. Case length is 2.492 The 375 Ruger is over .100 longer than the 300 Norma.
