168lrx 280ai or 284win in long action?

RL 26 is a great one for 280 AI.... hard part now is finding it

Where were you at with rl26 weights....have started reloading mine...but haven't been able to get out and be proud of loads yet....

63.3 grains.... had bad ejector mark at 64.5, but luckily no pressure at my accuracy node. 63.3g got me 3105 fps

Thx....my rifle is an older Remington mountain rifle was chambered in 280..rechambered to ai.....22" barrel...and I believe it isn't close to that speed....but i haven't my paperwork available to check....not sure where much anything is after my move....

25" douglas barrel on mine. hornady brass.

In my 26" criterion savage, i got the 165 sierra gamechangers going 3110, nearly same charge of powder.

figure probably 25-30 fps per inch, i could see yours coming in around 3025 or so?

160gr Speer sp, 4831sc 55gr., nosler 280ai brass, fed match 210, 3.330"......@ 2626...okay shooting....moa...pack as a brush rifle...

4831sc yielded slower velocities than most powders in mine also... but the accuracy was near the top

I'm doing load workup on a 26' 1/9 280 Ai on a rem 700 long action. Started with the 162 eldms loaded to the lands with nosler 280 ai brass, 4831 and Cci BR primers. Was able to push to it to 3100 FPS with ejector marks but no heavy bolt lift, shot 3/4 moa with no seating depth work. I had issues keeping my ES down with this load. I tried Remington 280 fire formed brass, 168 vlds, 4831 and gmm210's. Very consistent SD and ES, pushed it to 3000 FPS but accuracy is at 2920. I'm gonna play with seating depth a bit more but at 1/2 moa 5 shot groups. I have the nosler ABLR in 175's I'm gonna loaf up this weekend just because I have nothing better to do.

Wish i could be so lucky.....
My mountain rifle with noodle barrel is probably the wrong twist for for the heavier bullets....probably go back to lighter bullets....
But the 160gr were only 20 fps slower than Bowlers notes for a 168lrab....at same powder charge but longer barrel...

I'm considering a 280 ai barrel for my savage 7mm. I'm using 168 vld. At 2950 mv
Most posters say less recoil vs the 7mm. Dosnt seem right to me ( every action equal but opposite)
If lm missing something someone please explain

I own both 280AI/284 long action plus wildcat 280AI that I fire from brass. It's pretty hard to control whats being posted when you limit to a bullet maybe 99% haven't shot. I think lot of poster are showing support for 280AI.
