100g NBT IMR-4350

Mike- Thanks for the overview. Ha ha, I really liked my 270, for the short period of time I owned it anyways. I wouldn't feel undergunned if thats all I had to use out to 700 yards or so. Now let me get this straight, for my own personal safety. You said you used 52.5g IMR-48431 with the 100g NBT, right? Sewwaht89 said he used 57g and Tim/TX said he used 56g IMR-4831. Just kinda seems like a big gap between them grain wise? Just want to make sure I've read everything right. I'll probly start at 52g and make a ladder in .5g increment till I get to around 57g, and shoot them at 300 or so. The regular Win LR primer, or the Magnum Win primer? Sound alright? According to the ladder, I should have 3 of the rounds print pretty tight, and based on that I should pick the middle load, right? Thanks for all the help guys.

Not that reloading books mean much other then a guide, according to the Nosler #5, IMR-4831 was the most accurate powder tested with 100g bullets. They say there most accurate load was with the bottom end at 49.5g which is good for only 3100fps /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif The max is 53.5g which is good for 3290fps. You guys that went up to 56g and 57g must have found the high velocity node? I dont mind going over book MAX a couple grains, if accuracy is getting better and theres no pressure signs that I can see. Thats what I'm looking for anyways.

Aloha Guys,

Just what I was looking for I just picked up a new never fired older model sendero in 25-06 from a friend and was looking for info. I have some 100 gr BT's on order as no one carry's it locally here. I do have some 115 gr BT's and 120 gr Sierra Gamekings.

Anyone have load data for the 120 gr Sierra Gamekings??? I did a search and got alot of info but couldnt find any on the 120 GK. Ive got the Sierra manual but just wondering if anyone had thier own good loads to share.

Yes, and that was a max load for the most part in my rifle. I worked up a little more, but the groups opened up and the primers started to get ironed. I was shooting these through a standard off the shelf 700 BDL, topped with a 4-12 Leup.

I also used Win-WLR primers exclusively for all loads. Also if you decide to try the RL-22 load it is also a max load and should be worked up to slowly.

As for the .270 thing, I own one as well and have shot the daylights out of it. IT is a great round and I have taken several deer and a lot of hogs with it. Tim just likes to yank my chain about the 7mm's, as he has not had a very satisfactory experience with them.

As for the hog, yea he was a tough SOB and soaked up the full imp[act of a shoulder shot from the STW on the first round. THe other rounds I cannot guarantee the best of hits, but every one of the follow ups knocked him down.

Back to the 25-06, if your working loads up, you might want to give H-4350 a try as well. It is just a tad slower than the IMR-4350, and might work out with a little higher velocity and better load density, before you start to hit the pressure spikes. It wasn't around when I was playing with mine, and once I hit the loads I pretty much stuck with them. I used it in my .243 and got excellent results with the 95gr bullets, and up against the IMR it was a much better choice for the same.

Thanks for all the info Mike. I got a friend with some IMR-4831 and hes gonna let me use a little bit of it, enough for a couple laods anyways, told him I'd give him some 75g vmax for his 257 WM, ha ha. I went to buy some Win primers at sportsmans warehouse yesterday and they were all out of win primers except shotgun crap. I was mad /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Well since your max was around 52.5g, and the books max around 53 or so, I dont think I'll much past 54 or 54.5g, that might even be pushing it. I dont care to much about speed, but I would like to keep 3300fps and sub MOA accuracy. I'll probly do a ladder from 51-54 or so, when I can get some win primers that is. Once again, thanks Mike.

I worked up to 56-57g RL-22 and the 115g NBT in my old 25-06. According to my crony I was getting 3375-3400fps and 1" groups at 100 yards. I figured 1" was good enough with that velocity, definately max or over max. Crony could be off to though...Back in my day when I cared more about speed and less about accuracy. I am total opposite now, slinging heavy for caliber bullets and all, ha ha.

Here's my load data w/imr 4350 and 100gr nos bt .

54gr of imr 4350 / 100gr bt /cci 200 primer /WW case / cartridge oal 3.210" /15K off lands.

Shot a few groups a couple of weeks ago 1's ,2's and 4's at 100yds.

W/imr 4831 /everything the same / 56.6 gr shoots .5-.6" consistantly.

110gr accubond / imr 4350 / cartridge oal 3.235" / WW case / cci 200 / shoots .6-.7".

I know this load is too high for a straight 25-06 but the 100 nosler bt's shoot unbelievably well in my 25-06 AI. 54.5 gr of IMR 4350 this is just over the top load in the Nosler manual. I had my best results seated out as far as possible. Literally one hole groups and 1/2 moa out to 400 meters. Wind is definately not a problem with this bullet at this speed, 3250fps.

I've pretty much settled on 52.3g IMR-4350 with the 100g NBT. Shoots .75" MOA reliably at 3325fps. Shot it at 800 yards at my 15" gong and once I got her zeroed, hit it 3 out of 4. Not to bad when theres little wind.

I"ll work with IMR-4831 and win primer here in a little bit. Maybe hope to get 3400fps and .5" MOA like a couple fellows down in Texas.
