yote hunters ever considered how the old 'songdog' may spot you? As you're well aware they have better than excellent vision and from me watching lots of folks in their 'setups'....there's one thing that might make Mr Yotedog a little skittish! And that my friends is the OBJECTIVE LENS of your scopes. Whether it be a rifle scope or a spotting scope in bright sunlight or even on an overcast day....the objective lens of a scope shines like onto a 5 carat diamond in a Billygoats arse!!lightbulb

I have thought about this too, but I decided that since I usually set up with the sun at my back it probably wouldn't be an issue. Is there a good way to stop reflection from a scope besides buying an ARD?

I think if you investigate a little....having the sun behind you won't eliminate the problem. When I drive down to my target mound I have my scope set up back at the 1000 yd line and if the right location is found by moving around just a tat.....I can look clearly through the scope with the naked eye! And I think possibly the coyotes eyes are somewhat better than ours. As for the ARD....don't know if there's an effective way to solve the problem other than covering the OL.

UNLESS....you're looking through a spotting scope....or TWISTING KNOBS!

I'm sure that a dog-house blind, one you set up and crawl into and shoot from. That would solve it???

One of your wife's nylons stretched over the Objective end of the scope works well. It is invisible to your eye when looking through the scope.

I just got done making this suggestion to someone on facebook.

Take an old (or new) flip up scope cap like a buttler creek, that's junk anyway, and drill a hole in the middle with either a drill or dremel.

Start small and keep checking till you can see what you want to see with it.

I usually stay around 1/2" but added a few extra holes for ***** and giggles. The ONLY time I use it is coyote hunting.

The nylon stretched over the objective is a fine option as well, but this only reduces light, it doesn't reduce clarity like the nylon does.

The size of the hole will depend a lot on the zoom of your optic and if you use a sunshade or not.
If you REALLY wanna take your time, you could grid it off and make your own ARD...but this works just as well.
